To my understanding, to even do an initial release, one has to know the name of one's sword.
In this case, Kenpachi is unable to communicate with his sword, what more know its name, hence, it is not even released. Remember, he had always relied on his own strength, and never even thought of using the power of his sword, until recently. If you are referring to the shape of Kenpachi's sword, well, Ichigo's sealed form isn't exactly standard either. |
