and no, digital does not have frequency response.
digital signals are only 0's and 1's.

hence why a dac is needed - Digital to analog Converter, to convert digital signals to analog signals so that the output can reproduce them.

you can ignore it.
if the digital only can produce 40khz, no way the analog signal can go 100khz.

and if you think logically:
- your output such as headphones/speakers also won't rate as high as 100khz
- your ears definitely can't hear 100khz
