not working, wtf

Added on October 21, 2012, 3:58 am

how you make it work help me please

edit:

working for now

I'm on official jelly bean with kernel with init.d support but the mod seems not working or my kernel/rom does not support init.d
Flash the correct mod
Install script manager from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Open script manager, click on browse as root then ok
Choose the file name 11extsd2internalsd located in /system/etc/init.d and click on Script/Executable
Now tap on Su, Boot and Save
Reboot your phone and enjoy!

Hi bro, just got my SDXC 64GB yesterday so trying out the ExtSd2InternalSd mod on that as well today...
What is the kernel that you're using that supports init.d?

BTW - seems like the dev will release a 3.5 version tomorrow... (from current 3.1 version)

i use stock kernel wanamlite 4.0.1...
about ext update will try later  smile.gif

Decided not to wait. Went ahead and used the ExtSd2InternalSd 3.1. Now loving the initial 59GB instead of the 10GB.

Just to share:
Since I decided to use the stock ICS kernel while waiting for the Malaysia JB; to meet the kernel init.d requirement, I used this mod below

[MOD]Term-init & Zip-init: Enable Init.d for Any Phones w/o Need of Custom Kernels!!!

QUOTE(firefoxian @ Oct 21 2012, 04:30 PM)
it happened twice on friday. that was the first time. then yesterday it happened once. there is no other options besides master reset? I don't really seem to find this solution very practical. It's like spamming in technical support, saying ''REFORMAT la. sure gao dim dy the problem''/ No offence though. I would just want to have a proper diagnosis. What if the problem reoccur after formatting my phone?  hmm.gif
Well. I'm pretty sure it is auto off. Since when i press the power button or the home button, nothing pops up. I mean i press once to switch on LED. I mean that is the function of short press right. Only when I press it for a longer time, it switches on back, showing the Lock screen.

I have a few apps that I would want to prevent from running in background processes since I'm not using them. Apps such as LINE or games like GT Academy, Samurai Vs Zombie, Blood and Glory. But i cant seem to kill them in task manager. for LINE, it refuses to be killed. It will auto restart itself in the background processes.
*
You dont have much choice. Such apps are just badly written, evilly invasive. Even if you set up the task killer to keep killing them wont do much good as they can request to be restarted and if you freeze them, you can't run them without unfreezing again.

And task killers are just bad for ICS and above...
See here for video shared by Uncle Benny before

why behind phone imei number got /01 ?  my previous galaxy w don have it. what does that for? hmm.gif
Edited, one more question, how to make samsung apps remember my pass & email. i need to sign in every time when i wan to download apps.
sorry for the long question. ThX! biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif

AFAIK currently Samsung Apps store requires you to login each time (not like Google Apps). If it bothers you, most of the apps on Samsung Apps are also available on Google Play. FYI - a lot of users here don't bother much with Samsung Apps.

Anybody can advise on "Error restoring /data" from CWM?
My apps and data are not successfully restored sad.gif
My data.ext4.tar is 4.14GB.

I am running rooted stock kernel and ICS 4.0.4 XXBLH1 (Using CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4)

I get the same error with both full restore and advanced restore (for data) only. And already tried with factory reset etc before restore.

Booting up asks me to set up Google Account and Samsung Account again. Home pages etc all still looks fine.

I believe it is the CWM restore which doesn't support more than 2GB (from googling).

Tigerproc you must have fully loaded your phone to extreme. I have successfully restore before 2.4gb backup my biggest ever backup
*
Woo Hoo, I am finally back with a fully restored phone

Had to do a manual restore of the /data directory using a android tar executable that supported more than 2.5GB.

Ran the new tar with adb shell as below
CODE

tar xvf data.ext4.tar -C /

This is the tar that comes with CF-Root v6.4. (Tar extract limit is around 2.5 GB only as that was the total size of the /data directory when the failed extract happened for me)

CODE

BusyBox v1.20.0-cm9 static

Got the hint for my solution from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1871045

And the tar file from here

I got the 64GB same model of Sandisk micro SD and it costs me RM205 at Plaza Lowyat 4 months back. Now left only 30GB... so fast sad.gif
*
Better than me, got a 64GB class 10 at rm215 at Plaza Lowyat too last week.
But not so bad lah the pocket pain as wanted it quick as had limited free time to test out the ExtSd2InternalSd.

Most places out of stock and a shop even had it for rm255!!!

CurrentWidget from Google play can display current charging mA. For USB, should be 499mA and direct wall charger should be 999mA

Freeze touchwiz and used Nova prime and never looked back
*
Freezing TouchWiz no issue as long as you have another launcher already installed.

Be aware that the My Backup Pro does not successfully unfreeze TouchWiz (does not have error but unfreezing does not happen) , you have to use Titanium Backup power unfreeze to unfreeze it successfully.

after flash using mobile odin , i check software update , it comes out ' your device has been modified , software updates are not avaliable '  hmm.gif  already reset counter , unsure.gif normal ka
*
This is a JellyBean 'new feature' for S III???

I never had this message while rooted and running ICS. Checking for updates completed fine.
BUT after doing some googling, it may be that the update check actually never completes successfully on ICS if your device status is modified. EVEN if no errors reported; you suppose to see some icon on notification while check is happening?

I updated via Kies while on rooted stock ICS. Was no longer rooted after the update but device status was still set as device modified. Tried to troubleshoot it but no joy.
Finally decided screw it and rooted again.

Factory reset after updates will set your phone status back to normal. But any CWM usage will trigger the status back to modified.

Got it! Thanks for that info.

ya same with me. last time used to be cell standby is top but now its only used 3% ... seems better in a way but battery still have slightest problem.
*
Cell standby on ICS is high due to well known bug so can discount that difference.
As for battery life on JB, it is also noticeably worse for me.
Is this the price of project butter vmad.gif

restart pc... after restart still same...
*
Have you ever updated using Kies before?
Your firmware seems to be
PDA:LH1 PHONE:LIB CSC:LH1 (XME)

I am not an expert, but to me it looks like the 3 are not in sync. The last character can be different I think but the first 2 chars should be the same.
Kies requires all 3 to match before you can upgrade firmware using it.

Afterthought, I think the LIB indicates Poland?

AP set right? Factory reset will not help you succeed using Kies.
Just download the Msia JB and flash it.
Follow instructions here. Good Luck!

I see, which why I was surprised, all seems good except the Phone: LIB which I am quite sure is not Malaysia...
You flash PHONE only before?

Just flash lah using ODIN. If all ok, then you should be able to use KIES the next time once all 3 PDA,PHONE,CSC are in sync
