Configure your Samsung dive or get anti theft app. Root later once you feel comfortable. Note that Samsung dive or any anti theft app won't survive a factory reset. Unless you root. But later lah don't want to overwhelm u. Enjoy the current features first

For a start get viber, whatsapp, skype. Try to maximise the communication features of your choice phone before anything else.

I use cerberus.
First get the app. Second, root it. Third, move your cerberus app to system. In the cerberus website it tells u how to do it. Then u all set. Even when u do a hard reset cerberus will survive. Not only that it still can work even if the user change your Google account or don't go on Internet. The only think it won't survive is flashing. But nothing survives flashing anyway.

My father know nuts about Android yet he is happy using it. Ignorance is a good thing. It's those intellectually challenged people who wants to tinker with their phone and get confused. Then they complain the phone is confusing. Just use the damn phone like a iphone and u won't be confused.

What I did long time ago on my s1 but I'm sure can apply to s3 too. At pc sync outlook with evernote. Then use evernote on phone and sync to PC. Btw evernote is better than outlook. I use to be an outlook user but now I use evernote. There many other ways but I the fact is outlook don't sync with s3 directly anymore

I remember 1 year ago I was so frustrated with waze. But now I'm so happy with their service. They have improved tremendously over the months. Waze is just as good, or better than paid apps out there. I salute waze for this. Good job!

i flash Malaysian jelly bean from Poland jelly bean. All when well, but not so well. coz it won't allow me to shutdown, and instead it does a restart. so i have to painstakingly backup using Titanium backup and do a hard reset. and tediously reconfigure the system data. I don't know how to restore system data coz i afraid i may screw things up. so i better just reconfigure manually.

laggier? in what way? scrolling the icon menu items left to right?

i notice that jelly bean is not as smooth as how i envisioned it to be. the menu items scrolling is smooth. but sometimes got sekat-sekat very briefly and not so frequent. i'm just nitpicking but i need to mention.

also the chrome browser, seems is not smooth when scolling fast. got frame drop a little. again nitpicking.

i guess if u don't compare with ios is acceptable smoothness. although it is better than ics, the improvement is quite subtle. not very noticable unless u are really fussy about smoothness.
