For me, I think you should try to apply from service company rather than ONG company. Reason being most ONG will ask 3rd party company to help them in engineering work (piping, platform, turbine, etc). I dont remember any ONG company doing their engineering work themselves.
Try engineering company like sapura, RNZ, mmc or ranhill.
Also, make sure your result is good enough for them to consider.
Yeah, that's true. I think for internship, it's better to go to company that work and execute the ONG companies projects. You'll learn a lot more. You'll deal with various of ONG clients. There you can meet and build network with them. You'll know how these ONG companies work.Try engineering company like sapura, RNZ, mmc or ranhill.

I done my internship in Emerson Process Management. Had the chance to work on projects with Petronas, Sime, Talisman, Exxon, etc. A lot of great experience.
During my work with Petronas, there were group of trainee coming from Petronas. No offence but, I saw them doing nothing. Little effort to get involve.
They even said, they do more on office work. Only the trainee, ya!
Thanks god I'm not training at Petronas.
Oh ya, the guys from Talisman are amazing. The told me that, training in their company will have the chance to get on the oil platform. All will be supported by Talisman
EDIT
Anyway, my result is not that good! 2.5 only.
