This is so true, start small, get offshore experience - most important. Most operator will not accept trainee on board offshore unless the service company send trainee FOC, free of charge, due to bed space constraint / chopper charge / meal etc. Once you got 2 yrs experience offshore, running the job yourself without any f*** up then the business will keep coming in. Sometimes a guy with 3 yrs experience working with you is way better than a new unknown guy with 15 yrs experience elsewhere smile.gif. Build your rapport and people will acknowledge you.

Offshore life is a small world, the people on board are like your families and stories does go around, so watch out.

meaning OnG operators seldom send their trainee on board but OnG service usually send them on board FOC?

No. u need hotwork permit. And they strictly forbid camera without authorization. No phones (normally only shell/petronas staffs allowed with given access internet card, and outsiders can call back via permission via designated phone)  and picture taking is to avoid possible shutdown due to flashes via sensors, planned terrorism and confidential info leak. I advice u not to use camera as it may lead to blacklist and company image tarnished as they take this safety issue very seriously. Check with ur 'experience' supervisor for more detail.

Ya thanks for the reply. Thats what I thought. They are very strict about camera and phones. But when some dude told me that I can bring my phone on Shell rigs, i was like wtf?
