QUOTE(allenultra @ Jan 24 2009, 06:37 PM) fatimberlake, are you talking about Dialog at Labuan. I have a friend did her semester break part time job there before, maybe you can ask her. AFAIK, it also a servicing company. allenultra, but could you give me roughly the salary for freshgrad in the consultancy. As I know that you done your internship in the consultancy based company right?de_sengal, OAG? I remember it is an offshore pipeline design company, located at Wisma Central, beside KLCC. Considering not many offshore flexible pipeline design consultant in Malaysia, it maybe a good place to learn before going elsewhere. Benefit wise, can't help you on that. Want to ask those who already working offshore especially overseas. I have been asked during interview whether I am flexible towards my religion or not? They asked me because they want to know if I can eat food that had been cooked by using the same utensils to cooked pork. At first I said that I can eat bread or instant noodles but they said if I only eat bread and instant noodles, they afraid I cannot perform and screwed up the task. FYI, they said the duration on the offshore will be 3 months and I am muslim.
To those who also had been asked like this, what would be your answer. Are you flexible or not? |

QUOTE(Getz @ Feb 14 2009, 07:42 PM) This is sensitive issue. I'm conservative. In my opinion, reject the offer (if you got). I don't know if interviewer just want to test you. IMO what he said is true. But what makes me wondered is almost half of the personnel is muslim. That's why I want to asked whether anybody had been asked the same question before. Anyway, @Getz, how will you answer if you been asked this question? |

QUOTE(Getz @ Feb 14 2009, 08:27 PM) Maybe I'm just pretending to be flexible with my religious. When going back home, think it over and over again. If I received the offer, I survey the condition on the rig for the first few days and asking a Muslim colleagues about the issue. And decide to continue or quit. At first, I also want to pretend but after thinking it over again( yeah..I took a lot of time to answer them back) maybe they just want to test me whether I am firm or not. And in the end I admit that it will cause me a problem and by the way of how they reacted, it seems that I will failed the interview. It's wonderful to work with petronas platform as food is halal and delicious. This post has been edited by de_sengal: Feb 14 2009, 08:37 PM |

QUOTE(vanguard_13 @ Feb 14 2009, 08:46 PM) for me, islam not meant to be dat hard for it believers..since you r working offshore, u can eat all fish-based food+ grains.. even in some cases they might use the same oil to fry the fish wif pork.. (unless u see wif your own eyes they fry the fish wif the same oil frying the pork..) is it can be categorized as in darurat? Damn no need to think until they samak the utensils or not...or better u bring your own utensil.. at least dats wat my ustaz told me...its like in darurat..u eat or u die.. Anyway thx.. will remember to answer like you said if I been asked the same question. |
