hi everyone(grease monkeys),
currently i am studying mechanical engineering course in IPTA. here's my story and i hope that someone can answer my questions.

i would like to venture in O&G field. now, i am in 5th semester.for my course,the industries displacement, LI (in malay,it's call latihan industri ) will be held for 12 weeks(2.5 months) after  finished my 6th semester study.

since only 12 weeks is given to undergo my industry displacement, do any O&G companies accept internship students for such a short duration? when i do some searching on the internet, what i can found is most of the companies only offer an internship vacancy to candidate which at least can be with them for 3-6 months, AT LEAST.

so,do i stand a chance for this? do someone done this before?is it maybe most of the O&G companies actually didn't put notices for vacancies?

got an interview with sapura for geotech eng as i was told. although, i would really like a field eng job because i think more offshore time. should i inform them of my intentions? btw, anybody have experience with sapura interview? also what is their expected salary and benefits? afraid will ask too much because comparing with my current salary and benefits.

currently working with small time testing services company in singapore. current job pay is sgd and high end of normal office fresh grad salary. but work exp only 3 months. can consider to push salary higher? but dont really mind the drop in salary value.

reason to come back to MY is that im closer to my loved ones when not offshore. currently not going offshore much (skip a month+ and only for a few weeks from what i was told) anyway but still dont get to see my loved ones because of the distance. i was thinking might as well get a job that goes offshore more then at least make money for the same time frame.

some advice on the interview, the options to weigh if im offered a job with sapura, what to expect from sapura, and also pros and cons of earning and staying in malaysia compared to earning and staying in singapore would be great. thanks guys!
