I'm not sure if anyone's asked this before, but I'm pretty sure it has been touched. I recently graduated with a Degree in Chemical Engineering and landed by first job as a QA Engineer at a Japanese manufacturing company (which produces epoxy molding compound), which does require some chemical knowledge, but my job will be mostly investigating customer issues and using SPC methods.

If I were to decide to switch companies a year later, do you think it would be possible to land a job at an O&G field given my 1 year experience in a non-related field? Is the field-related experience important, or is it just the working experience important? Is is possible to get into the company as a 'graduate' considering that I have not worked for a proper O&G firm before this?

Thank you guys and hope for a swift reply.
