Yes, go for geotech survey company ..Fugro the best for ur background
*
nod.gif Yes you got chance to work in OnG. You can be either surveyor or processor. Surveyor is responsible to handle the project given, collect data, & do some reports. In other hand processor task is to process the data, do plans & etc (I dunno the job scope as processor tongue.gif)

Surveyor most of the time working at offshore and processor in the office. And sometimes processor may required to go offshore.

AFAIK, no hiring have been made at the moment (from what I heard in the office). Anyway, you graduate from what university? Coz Fugro tend to pick UTM graduates.

Well, still a lot of local offshore survey company out there such Orogenic, TL Geo Hydro, Offshore Works & more....

p/s: I speak myself as I am a Fugro employee... cool2.gif

*
Well, you can check http://www.fugro.com/careers for any vacancies... Which company you working right now?

I'm myself not very sure what the requirement for working with ROV (as I'm in survey division sad.gif ). If you got skills they required why not.
BTW, Fugro got new ROV division in Singapore.

sorry but what does SSB and SSPC stand for??
*
SSB = Sarawak Shell Berhad

SSPC = Sabah Shell Petroleum Company

Technically, this Shell's Malaysia company or to be exact is under Shell Asia Pacific (Correct me if I'm wrong)

anyone here working for Fugro?  How it looks like working in this company? What are the benefits such as salary, allowance & so on.?

Thanks.

Yep. I'm one of them working for Fugro. Actually, it depends on what your position you want to apply. Either Field staff (Surveyor, Field engineer, Geophysicist, etc.) or Office staff.

If field staff (like myself tongue.gif), you will get basic salary and allowance (offshore/onshore). It mean once get out from you house to work, they will pay you (food allowance included). Plus, you entitle for KWSP, health benefit (your spouse and kids) and protected by company insurance. ( I think got more... I forgot already tongue.gif)

Working period sometimes not fix but max is 6 week (Maybe varies.. It stated in the contract).

For surveyor, you must at least have degree in surveying. As Field engineer, I'm not sure but is related to Electrical/Electronic/Computer.

Fugro have many division such as Survey, Geotechnical, ROV etc. You can get more info at this site: www.fugro.com

Btw, I don't have any info regarding office staff. Sorry for that... sad.gif

Well i don't think you need a degree in "surveying" to become a wellbore surveyor.

Any engineering degree will be good enough.
*
Well, surveyor is a general word.

In my case, this surveyor related to land surveying and mapping. In offshore, we normally involve with well exploration ie; rig move, hydrographic survey and other construction job such as pipe-laying, jacket & topside installation and more.

Hi Mr Apis Jay,
May i know what is the basic salary for engineer at Fugro Geodetic....
Is there any benefit or extra allowance...
*
The basic salary maybe not the highest compared among competitors/other service companies. Like me only RM2k++. (Since I'm base in Malaysia sad.gif) Maybe the basic can be higher if you have experience working in offshore before. But total salary include allowance would be RM7-8k (if work in a full month).

Anyway, you will be entitled onshore/offshore allowance when working per day. If you still in probation, you get the lowest, USD30 (I think, forgot already). Since I'm in Grade II now, I will get USD70/day when offshore and USD 40/day when onshore. Other benefit like KWSP, SOS and others (can't remember. tongue.gif)

Apis jay,

How long have you been working with fugro......wat about the salary increment.....so every time we go to office at KL we are entitled to get 40 usd.....nice one....
*
I've already work with Fugro for 2 1/2 years (Mainly in Malaysia and Thailand). I'm still seeking for experiences which is still a lot to learn.

About salary increment, so far I get increment annually or you have been promoted to another grade (eg: Probation>Junior). Plus I get 13 months pay annually.

Actually, I don't have to come to KL office frequently since I'm a 'Field Staff'. Most of the time, I'm at home either for holidays or standby for the job. USD40/onshore allowance applies when you working onshore and travel to another place, mobilise equipments and etc.

To be the truth, Fugro is quite a big name for Seismic and Positioning services in OnG sector in this region. More info: http://www.fugro.com
