I would like to know if any of the current employees in this field actually secured a job by applying on any of the companies online application?

I wonder if online applications are actually perused or even looked at. I bet they all just go into the spam folder. If any of you guys actually secured a job with any of the online application plz share. Else I think the best method would be Snail Mail (Exclude Mega Corp. such as Petronas, Shell and ExxonMobil, their online recruitment are proven).

Btw these are some of the companies that are active in the O&G industry. I think the 1st post could be updated.

Please check out today's The Star newspaper. There's so much vacancy.

I think this week is the best week since the middle of last month. Something big going on?

Among the perils of this industry. From a local Malay tabloid if I'm not mistaken.

QUOTE(shinseijiro90 @ Oct 6 2008, 10:29 AM)
hey,
is working offshore really as dangerous as rumours say when women are involved?

this is kinda putting me off my aspirations to work in O&G..

I think its dangerous to the men working at those offshore rigs. You have to understand not seeing any women for weeks and then suddenly, BAM! you came.

Its like throwing a women in a men's prison. You surely are gonna look like a supermodel to them. They will lose focus and become a hazard to the workplace and their piers.

Just to warn everyone of an ongoing scam that has been around for a couple of years.

The scam goes on like this:

You will receive an email from any of the big MNC O&G company something like below:
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL! DO NOT GIVE YOUR PASSPORT INFO OR ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFO.

If you do however reply the sender will reply with an online questionnaire as below:

The questionnaire will appear as if it is legit, complete with the company's letter head, official email and phone number BUT it is a SCAM. The scam might appear to come from Petronas, Shell, Aramco or any big O&G MNC. So please be careful and please send this word out.

More info on the scam can be read at:
