If I'm not mistaken most favourite universities among the companies would be UTM, UM and UiTM.

UTP of course will be in the first ranking. but I'm pretty surprised that some UMP fresh grads aren't bad as well. Most of them working in ong consultant companies like MMC, RNZ, Technip. Huhu..

What ever it is, it depends on you how you sell yourself during the interview.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Do you know you that UMP (chemical engineering) have a factory size lab for pilot plants and clean room for chemical experiment. That lab also received certification from NIOSH for safety. Student required to wear safety boot, safety helmet and engineer jacket to enter. They train like engineer there. UMP superbly focused in engineering like UTP. 90 percent of the staff from UTM including dean of faculty. smile.gif

There are a handful of companies out there requires engineering background. Its best that you study each OnG company and determine how your engineering background can put into good use for the company.

Ask yourself, do you wish to work under upstream or downstream? Do some studies. Most of the answers are already in this thread

Your question is too generic. Its like seeking for employment.

* FYI most companies are freezing up new employment.
*
I did seeking for employment now. Even with this tough time, life must go on. I just want to collect a lot of info from this thread. I became a silent reader of this thread from beginning. But I need more advice.

I have a 6 month practical training experience with local company with a core business in upstream. But the don't have immediate vacancy for me to fill in. I don't mind working with upstream or downstream. As long i can learn and gain exp as much as possible. The problem is, it's really hard to have a kick start here. That's why i need to know list of possible company that i can apply. There are a lot of company out there that i might be missed. I don't have a complete info on the player in this industry. I did a research and this is part of it. Collecting info from forumer here. Any help will be appreciated.
By the way I'm chemical engineering graduate with second class upper grade.

Critical thinking is crucial as engineer will face the uncommon problem in engineering. Identify problem, analyze, come out with several solution, choose appropriate solution, execute and post mortem of effectiveness of solution.
For fresh grad definitely important if you want to serve in big company. In easy word soft skill is much needed. nod.gif

In 10 years, when I have enough experience and knowledge in oil and gas, maybe I'll set up a website or blog as guideline for entry level like me right now. nod.gif

Want to ask those who already working offshore especially overseas. I have been asked during interview whether I am flexible towards my religion or not? They asked me because they want to know if I can eat food that had been cooked by using the same utensils to cooked pork. At first I said that I can eat bread or instant noodles but they said if I only eat bread and instant noodles, they afraid I cannot perform and screwed up the task. FYI, they said the duration on the offshore will be 3 months and I am muslim.
To those who also had been asked like this, what would be your answer. Are you flexible or not? rclxub.gif  Thx in advanced.
*
This is sensitive issue. I'm conservative. In my opinion, reject the offer (if you got). I don't know if interviewer just want to test you.

IMO what he said is true. But what makes me wondered is almost half of the personnel is muslim. That's why I want to asked whether anybody had been asked the same question before. Anyway, @Getz, how will you answer if you been asked this question?
*
Maybe I'm just pretending to be flexible with my religious. When going back home, think it over and over again. If I received the offer, I survey the condition on the rig for the first few days and asking a Muslim colleagues about the issue. And decide to continue or quit.

It's wonderful to work with petronas platform as food is halal and delicious. tongue.gif

is it can be categorized as in darurat? Damn doh.gif  why can't I think of that during the interview. Regarding your ideas to bring my own utensils, I already gave them the idea but they said that they cannot create an inconvenience/burden to the chef just for one person only. shakehead.gif
Anyway thx.. will remember to answer like you said if I been asked the same question. thumbup.gif

If you found other promising offer and free of issue, just take it. Darurat can be take into consideration. Tawakkal je la wink.gif
