QUOTE(wickedghost @ Aug 15 2009, 06:42 AM) two weeks in office...ahh...=.=..not much other choices of companies for fresh graduate with moderate result...sigh.. If that two weeks you're going to be in the office, then I suppose you can get back your saturdays and sundays offshore in-lieu. If you're eager to join the offshore OnG industry then just take this opportunity to get more field experience. Take the offer, but look for a better offer as soon as the bond ends.

QUOTE(alanaw @ Oct 8 2009, 10:36 AM) You have very good chance. You can apply as field engineer. All offshore facilities have HVAC systems. However I'm not sure which company supply HVAC systems for the OnG industry.

QUOTE(kaiserwulf @ Nov 16 2009, 07:15 AM) Petronas platforms are more strict I believe. I was once at the Asian Supply Base in Labuan when I saw this scene. One contractor guy tried to hide his HP inside his safety boots and when they check (before taking the boat to Semarang) they found it. He tried to feign ignorance but it was obvious he was trying to hide it (no sane man keeps their HP inside their boots). Be careful .... that fella was left on shore even after confiscating his HP. Boat left without him, poor man. Agree. Many Petronas platforms outside Miri are quite close to shore. Hence it is possible to get cellular signal out there. When there's signal, I believe a lot of people would ignore the safety regulations and still making calls or SMS in hazardous area. Not sure about Semarang Field.

QUOTE(Vervain @ Nov 18 2009, 01:36 AM) Hp is one thing. What about fishing. I don't think fishing is a big issue on the platform, unless there is diving or ROV operation near the platform.

QUOTE(LeechFever @ Nov 23 2009, 09:17 AM) I think it's not allowed. Maybe just not fully enforced since people there tend to fish and throw the fish back. Also there's potential mercury poisoning. Mercury poisoning?! The fish you get in your supermarket aren't any safer. Fishes swim around, so it's hard to know where they come from. Plus, there are very strict regulations when it comes to disposing toxic materials. I don't think all waste can be thrown into the sea, again depending on which part of the world the platform is. Straits of Melaka is one of the busiest shipping region in the world, I bet more dumping is done there than South China Sea. Anyway, I heard in some rigs, cooks actually setup fish traps with leftover food as bait to get fresh supply of fish.

QUOTE(pzo @ Dec 8 2009, 08:46 PM) Im chemical eng graduated in last july but not having any chances to get into OnG, because mostly need connection, high/first class cgpa, and mechanical eng ppl. so sad, till now get no work. i regret taking chem eng. no job for low achiever like me.sob sob. any one know any kind of training courses specifically for oil n gas? i prefer to start from below/training if im going to this industry. Really? Have you tried hard enough? A friend of mine got offer from ExxonMobil Refinery in Melaka, but he turned it down and went with the offer from MOX. He's also a Chem Eng grad, but that was 4 years ago.

QUOTE(pzo @ Dec 9 2009, 11:31 AM) Do u meant to say he got MOX 4 years ago? or he is 4 years experiences? I wonder why he turn down exxonmobil..Mox only specialize in gases, maybe because MOX is nearer to city. Hard enough u meant like .. if that , u guys were rite maybe im not trying hard enough. But most/all oil n gas job ads i saw only want those with 5years and above experience. Do you think i should send in my resume regardless of what exp they want? and 300cvs, is it hard or soft copy? which one do u think company prefer? For starting it is not high pay im looking. i even ok if they just pay me 1.5k. What important is to gather as much experience as possible while im still young. I was trying to relate him to your situation. So, yes, got he got MOX 4 years ago when he was a fresh grad. I think he took MOX because the offer is almost the same as Exxon's. Not everyone is keen to work in an OnG company. MOX looks pretty good and steady.

QUOTE(Jhnzr @ Dec 29 2009, 11:49 PM) i paid 2000++ monthly...
That's a lot. Which means your annual premium is more than 24K. I wonder how much is your total insurance coverage.

QUOTE(fadzero @ Jan 11 2010, 02:00 AM) nowadays cert/degree doesnt matter..its the experience there are looking for..just finish my internship at pcsb sko(petronas carigali sdn bhd,sarawak operation)..one guy really pity him,he just graduated from UTP,ofcourse if ur under petronas sponsorship u have to work for them as a mean to pay them back,sadly the company doesnt have any position left..so they end up not hiring him,instead just have to pay 10k to petronas..so when u finish study find some part time work or internship for awhile then ur marketable.. You mean that guy has to pay back 10K when Petronas has no position for him? I guess that condition was stated in the contract, but who would have thought a big company like Petronas can't even accomodate a fresh graduate.

QUOTE(XtremeZZZ @ Mar 1 2010, 05:58 PM) Guys, Just wondering where can i subscribe broadband in Labuan?? If you got a house phone, then Streamyx. Or else, just mobile broadband with one of the 3G operators. Check on their websites for coverage.

QUOTE(ICDeadPeople @ Jul 28 2010, 12:28 PM) Just to clarify, Talisman is an operator, not contractor. Of course, but since Noyze is a freelancer, from his perspective, every party which offer him a contract job is a contractor.

QUOTE(electroyid @ Jul 29 2010, 03:43 PM) send my resume alrdy...twice.. didnt get any reply yet... hmm.. r u a seaman?? From what I heard, DP vessel operators in SEA region would normally hire marine officers with DP certificates. Kill two birds with one stone. The ship can't be sailing and on DP at the same time, correct me if I'm wrong. Not sure about drilling ships and semi-sub rigs though. Perhaps it would be easier if you submit your CV to those man-power supply agencies. You probably stand a higher chance of getting short contract jobs.
