Pretty much the same as MMHE if not mistaken. I'd tried applying Kencana last time but turns out vain.

QUOTE(Kaede85 @ Dec 17 2008, 03:18 PM) Hi everyone, I'm currently working as an admin officer which is totally irrelevant to my major in geology. There are a lot of jobs in O n G industries awaiting for geologist BUT only senior geophysicist or senior geologist is eligible to apply, all of those require at least 5 years working experiences in related field. It's just driving me despair. My question is, is there any demand for an entry-level geologist? Any suggestions to get me into any of the O n G company? Send hard copy of resume? Write up a good cover letter? What else can I do? I've tried Shell (failed), Petronas (failed), Nippon Oil (nearly succeed), others like SLB prefer degree in geophysics. Help me !!! I don't wanna spend the rest of my life 'upgrade' myself becoming an ADMIN MANAGER Have you tried Western Geco? |

I would say most deepsea exploration has been suspended. Other than that, pretty much all ongoing projects have to proceed as plan. If not they will lose out alot. You have 50 oil rigs and require 50k employees to run, I don't think they will downsize the manpower, just reduce the need of sending them offshore. My seniors did mentioned during 97 when the economy hit hard & there weren't much work, most of the time they spend was to clean the office compound and pulling out grass .

OnG industry personally is wide. They need various engineering and non engineering background to run the company. Most of the time its a question of pay and workscope. Field engineers would fetch a higher pay as opposed to office based workers.
Offshore = off from the shore. Basically working on sea, be it barge, drill ship, jack up rigs, platforms etc. Most of the time people perceive offshore as working on rigs. But its best that you specify you'd worked offshore on a ship. The should be able to understand it. If not they would question more on your previous jobscope to get a full picture. |

To be frank, pressurized and depressurized under deep sea diving is plain hazardous to the body. Rumor has it, some don't even live long, while others suffer from the side effects, e.g brain damage. Well its all rumours. Nevertheless, Its not something I would wish to gamble for. Lots of deadly creature lurking in the sea. Rather venture to RV.

Trust me, with 11 years working experience, its really hard for you to adopt to the new environment. I presume you have commitment. Unless you're willing to work down under with a low starter pay. Some jobs require you to undergo pre-school.

100% manufacturing supplying equipment to offshore rigs.
Those post require manufacturing experience. But hey 100 candidates.. for cnc machinist, 50 per shift? this company sure hit gold big time. My guess its either a new establish plant or they hit on a big project after laying off all their key personnel. |
