Hello grunge..Wanna ask just a lil bit. Where is the work location? Is it sumwhere around KL? I have so much interest in joining O&G since I graduated but til now still no luck for me.However, i'm still trying though.I graduated in B.Eng(Mechatronics) with 2nd class upper.Have 1yr+ non-related work experience(in project mgmt+construction work). I just want to get myself into track back and wish that i could enter the right industry worth of my qualification..~Sigh~

I think to find other candidates for different discipline rather than engineers. If im not mistaken most of UTP students are some sort of engineers (RE, Completion, etc). They dont have other discipline such as geologist, geophysicist, etc.

You can be a process engineer, usually process engineers are chemical engineering background, you can start with engineering consultant firm, like technip, MMC, Aker solution, WorleyParsons, Dinaz, RNZ, SBM etc..

I am currently looking for internship offers and stumbled upon the Octagon Petroleum Technology as one of the companies recommended by my lecturers.

I'm currently pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Information Technology and is wondering what kind of tasks would I possibly be carrying out as an intern there? Any ideas anyone? laugh.gif

Hello everyone,

I am currently a fresh grad and still unemployed even after 6 months of waiting since my convocation day July last year. I was graduated in chemical engineering under the 3 years undergraduate course and didn't took part in industrial training/ internship since my undergraduate degree is based from UK Campus, so the internship can be taken as an optional. But then, after obtaining my degree I found its very hard to secure a job especially in O&G as my final result was only Second Class Lower and I cannot provide the interviewer with my internship record. I really wanna become an engineer in O&G industry. I did attend several interviews with O&G companies but it was very difficult to get the reply from them even after 2-3 months of waiting. What I didn't understand is that why there were still no reply from the interviewer regarding my interview status even after a very long time of waiting? I think that they should have told me about the result even if I was rejected. The other things that I would like to discuss here is that how can I get a job in O&G industry with my result was just in second class lower and with no internship taken and with my 0 working experience? I hope that any senior players or engineers in this industry can give me some advices here. I'm thinking about taking a class for process & piping design but not really sure where to find it. There is an INSEP SHRDC Programme that providing the System Piping Design Module but at the moment they don't have any opening yet. I hope that if anyone can help me here, or if your company has opening or management training for graduate pls do no not hesitate to inform or pm here. Thank you.

My comments as SFM,

Your background:
Doesn't suit for PE job which more less required strong fundamental in reservoir & well properties

Advise:
Go for MSc in UTP or Trainee in INSTEP and grab opportunity there to learn more on O&G, surely by u grad (oil price will rocket sky again, u definitely be employed.

My advise is in O&G fields, u must:
Be a leader, show courtesy to develop people, reach out & mark word such as CREATE INITIATIVES!!
