for those who go to offshore asia event, did any of u receive a lot of goodies and merchandises from any booth??

i got mugs, tshirts(XXL size, the smallest they have), caps, notepads, catalogs....lol, and simple bags.

i saw a visitor asking for beers on the table. "can take or not?" the staff then give him all the beers on the table. he sure damn happy.

Well, I don't think it is hard if u have a good CGPA, they normally will called those first class scorer for an interview then can get through is another different story.  As for my case, I am lucky that when i graduated last year is the time when the entire engineering market is blooming, so i got 2 offers from oil & gas companies. This year definitely need many forces in oil and gas industry with the high crude oil price with more than 100 USD per barrel.

I think client company like Petronas and Shell will review every applicant, they normally won't go for pointers just log in their website and do some personality test and they normally will call u for phone interview...

Just send out your resume, no harm trying. 

oh ya... for those who're interested in Exxon Mobile, one of the Geoscientists manager from exxon told us that there is a new program now for fresh grad. It is a 3 years program, where in this 3 years, u'll be assigned a mentor to see ur progress, and u'll also be changed from one department to another in ur field, being sent off for trainings and study at houston school etc. the purpose is to help u realize and determine the department tat you really like and interested in. After the 3 years, u'll be able to choose the any department that u wan to join, provided that there is vacancy for you so that you could perform as good as u could, as it will be ur choice and preference. This is a very good program, i believe, based on the concept that one could perform best when one is doing things that he or she really interested in.

USM- the only university that provide Geophysics course in Malaysia...

Im being offered a position as field service engineer with GE Oil & Gas, and this is home-based job. Want to ask the seniors here, what are the career prospects as a service engineer that mostly deals with installation, service and maintenance of rotating equipment. it's true that petrol subsidy will be cutting down..
& it's very true that world oil price is increasing..
projected to be at 80-90 dollar /barrel by end of this year..
but, STILL our oil price among d LOWEST in the world even WITHOUT subsidy..
we shud change our mindset..
