u work with cameron right now? apply for IT pos
how the work environment and the pay?
*
Can't comment on the pay. Job scope, manage all IT related stuffs, e.g networking, SAP, mail servers, Purchase of new periperials, troubleshooting, coordinate & manage the system and upgrade stuffs.. these are the few which i observe, there might be more. You might be assigned to travel around, depending on the task given. i suppose the post you're applying is IT coordinator?

That I'm not sure, you have to ask the question during interview and compare with other offerings. Salary might differs from person to person.

RT & X-rays are the same right? Yeah i have to agree, COC on equipments are a must. Thats why welders get frustrated when they discover their work don't pass on RT/UT test

Hi guys, like MCDC I'm also considering of applying with Cameron, is a coordinator position. I have 2 yrs exp in the electronics industry, in a similar capacity, degree holder.

A couple of questions for you guys in the industry:

1) How's Cameron's reputation?
2) What's the typical salary range for this position? So that i don't price myself too high or too low.
3) For ppl with exp, how's the job like? (I have an idea but just wanna check)
4) What's the typical career path? based on your knowledge or experience of your friends
5) Is there an unofficial pact among these O&G contractors that they don't poach their competitor's people? Like Schlumberger would not take a Cameron guy, or Buker Hughes people won't accept Halliburton guy kind of thing?

This is quite an important turning point for me, because i feel that by the time u hit 3-4 years exp, most likely u r stuck in that industry so i want to be sure i know as much as i could about the company and industry.

Thanks guys!

1) ok
2) depends. Seems you have working experience it might varies
3) Experience? depends what experience you have
4) Basically you run one project or job from start till finish. taking it as your baby.
5) Definately NO

I'm not familiar with which position you're referring to but based on my knowledge, this job requires

1. SAP knowledge
2. Product knowledge
3. Management and coordinating. Yes you will manage the a specific fabrication project from Start till Finish in the manufacturing plant.
4. Occasionally requires you to communicate with all the OnG companies as well as vendor around the world.

There's more you can explore. If you have none of the above. never fear, They can train you up. But most importantly this job is challenging and requires you to work long after hours. Yes they liaise with most major OnG companies and demand as well as deadlines are critical. Overall its a good platform for you to start and learn all the product knowledge and tools used. After a few years should you be interested on other fields, you can consider on hopping into different department or different companies.

Don't worry. Cameron is a good platform to start with. IMO subsea will be the next big thing after surface, since more and more exploration will be done under deepsea region.

I think they're offering IE position for you. Training should take place in Singapore plant. Don't worry, they're manufacturing most wellhead and equipment & supply it to around asia and middle east region. So its a good platform to learn.

If you're interested on getting yourself involve in installation, they do have service department, which you can request to join after working a period of time. IE will also have a chance to do FAT & SIT. Something like Stackup testing and installation for customer such as shell, talisman,PCSB etc... for subsea, I'm not sure, but never the less, there is still room to grow. you won't get good pay as opposed to those upstream driller, but still you can sustain your living through as now economy is in a bad shape.

Don't be afraid. In future, you can always join other competitors such as FMC, aker, shell, petronas or even other OnG companies. They always need someone with technical background or experience.

Salary wise, no idea..

Not sure but overall you can say there's no office politics. Yup Bond is a pain in the ass. I think you should check out with the interviewer for more details. IE, will basically need to know more about routing, machine capabilities on machine... blah blah blah, all technical manufacturing stuffs. Hence if you dislike manufacturing, its best that you stay out of it. Most of the time you'll be assessing all technical cad drawings and coordinate and perform programing to the machine. if you need a clear picture just ask the interviewer, I think they can provide you with a more concise information on the job scope.

you might be afraid now. but you will never regret for the rest of your life as you tried. stop dreaming and lets make it a reality

yup the demand might slow down. well still required to spud as there is still demand in the market. people can stop buying electronic goods and use their current ones for a long period of time. But people still need petrol to move or to get things moving. hence there will still be demand on petrol.

Well its his/her choice. some people choose to live life easy. Rather than going through extreme hardship. Undoubtly I do agree you'd just wasted a good chance to learn and excel. You may learn more in Schlumberger as opposed to carigali.
