i believe many android users sync their contacts to google contact.
your contacts are safe even your phone is damage or stolen
but what if something even worst happen and you lost your gmail pw or kena hack?
then really gg, all contact gone.
to prevent this from happening, read spoiler below.

choose the default option "google CSV format"
it will generate a single .csv file that has ALL your contacts.
keep this safely file in your dropbox, or laptop or anywhere.so if one day you lost your gmail account,
you can create another one, and upload that to your new gmail, and you have back all your contacts, including their picture, phone number, email, address, birthday etc.
so you wont lost all your contact if your gmail kena hack.
another problem about online sync is sometimes they can really screw up.
this time is about google chrome bookmarks.
chrome sync is awesome, bookmark a page in laptop chrome, and it appears in your phone/tablet chrome as well.
but terrible accident can happen too.
my bad luck today that cause me lost all my chrome bookmarks.

what happen today was i open my old old netbook that dual boot with ubuntu,
i boot the ubuntu OS because i want upgrage it to ubuntu 12.10
the chrome in ubuntu was signed in with my google account and set to sync.
for whatever weird reason, google thought that my netbook ubuntu chrome was the latest.
it sync the bookmarks in it which was one year ago, and all my other device (phone, tablet, laptop) sync to it.
bloody hell, i lost all my bookmarks, its as if i travel back in time and had my set of bookmarks that was one year ago.
luckily i got keep a backup of my bookmarks. so i cleared all my chrome data from google dashboard, and import my latest bookmarks to it and sync back to all my device. fuh...
here's how you backup your bookmarks.

on laptop/PC, open chrome, press "control+shift+O"
its a shortcut to open chrome bookmark manager
click "organize", then "export bookmarks to HTML file"

similar to the google contact .csv file,
keep this bookmarks .html file somewhere safe, like your dropbox, hard disk etc.
so if one day your sync screw up or some weird accident happen.
you still have a backup of your backup :-)
i usually do this once a month. so glad i did if not i would have lost all my bookmarks.
its one of the worst
first world problems to lose all your contacts or bookmarks
hope my post can be helpful so you guys.

remember to backup, it only take a few clicks, and the backup file is very very small.
