for those who have CVT experience i realise that there is a rubberband effect is it normal or not normal since never driven one be4 and when downhill, if i let go of my foot off the accelerator, i notice that the RPM will shoot to 2.5-3k RPM and stay there, is that what u call engine braking?

It has nothing to do with rubberband effect, though. It's just the CVT "downshifting" to a lower gear ratio. This post has been edited by dares: Dec 2 2012, 09:38 PM

It's just the CVT "downshifting" to a lower gear ratio. so the rubberband effect is normal yeah, i was quite surprise when downhill and i let go of my foot thn suddenly the RPM shoot up to 3k(pulling) thn i think abt it, i probably is engine braking cuz in saga 4AT, only the speed will increase, not the RPM This post has been edited by MR_alien: Dec 2 2012, 09:44 PM

CVT's rubberband effect is when you step on the throttle, the RPM goes up and the engine roars but the car is not accelerating as fast as the engine noise suggests, until the CVT arrives at the correct ratio then only you feel the acceleration. FLX's CVT have the same behaviour, not sure about Inspira's though. This post has been edited by dares: Dec 2 2012, 09:50 PM

QUOTE(MR_alien @ Dec 2 2012, 09:51 PM) ic, thanks now kinda have to get used to the CVT Feels weird, doesn't it, the car doesn't change gears You will learn to appreciate soon enough especially when driving in hilly area
