Hi Guys,
Did you guys encounter some knocking noise at the front suspension area when driving on uneven road/ bump?

I went to check with the service center guys, they said its normal for M3 and also for M2. This due to the car is not so heavy.

But its true that it only happen when i drive alone, but not when my car is full of ppl.

Did u all having the same issue? and can it be fix? Because it is so annoying and I bought a new car, but it sound like a old car with this noise.

Sad to hear that, so far on my m3 CKD 2.0...no such knocking noise that you have mentioned (touch wood tongue.gif  tongue.gif )

OMG!!! Why I'm so unlucky!!!

Issue on my car :
1 - ticking noise on driver seatbelt - bring to service center for 3 times and unable to fix, at the end I fixed it myself. it was due to the seatbelt cover, fixed after I place some sponge-base tape.

2. passenger seat shake and some rattling sound on bumpy road - bring to service center for 4 times!!! after i force them to change the passenger seat "rack" (dunno what it called), then issue fixed for 1 month. Now coming back!!!! but it only happen when the seat in certain location.

3. rattling/knocking sound on bumpy road while making turn - power steering rack need to adjust. after adjustment, issue fixed.

4. The knocking noise on front suspension area as i mentioned. But this only happen on those poor condition road, like those road that they cut a "longkang" but did not fill up properly (dunno how to explain, hope you understand).
Can this fix by installing the strut bar and anti roll bar? I dont think it will, but just ask for opinion.

Bough a car for only 5 months+, but it sound like driving a 5 years old car....

Dear mazda 3 owners,
I'm been testing cars from C-segment but stil having hard time deciding.. tested the 1.6 last week and love the handling..
but need ur two cents on this car:
- Is the sedan's back seat room comfortable if going for long trips ? Cos the hatchback feels too cramp.. and in paper, sedan is just 9 cm longer
- Is the FC good? Looking at the 2.0 model since have more goodies compared to 1.6
- Any deciding factor than made you guys chose this instead of civic or elantra?
*
I choose Mazda 3 instead of the civic and elantra, main reason is due to the car design.
Besides, i personally feel that the handling is better than civic and more power. Therefore, i grabbed it.

If road noise is one of your concern, you may need to think twice. As it really loud if you getting the 2.0 with R17 tyre.

I cant really comment much...bcoz my m3 2.0 is still new...about 3 months+ only...clocking at almost 7k KM in total mileage.....no harm to just go and have a test drive to clarify all your doubts.....mayb there are knocking sounds but i m not that particular...since my previous car (proton SAGA LMST) was the worst in knocking sound all over the places....so m3 to me is already a big jump as upgrading and i m more than happy with its driving experience rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

Yup... Will try to get a test drive by this weekend... let you guys know the outcome...

I have the same problem as in your first point. Can you post a picture how you place the sponge base tape? You will be my savior for that  rclxm9.gif

Yup, I have a knock knock sound coming from passenger side front of car.. After I opened the bonnet I found a free lying plastic screw on a plastic container near the windscreen  rclxub.gif I have no idea where it belongs so I just kept it. I thought this would solve the problem but the sound is still there. Will ask the SC again for this.

Apart from that, my absorber got nyek nyek sound when going through bumper. Complaint that, they said they have changed the absorber for me. But I still go that nyek nyek sound. Now I doubt it. I will send to another SC and ask them to check again.
*
Let me post the photo by tomorrow... lazy to go outside to snap picture... sorry...

As for the absorber nyek nyek sound, I heard ppl complain about it at the SC, the SC guy just removed out the absorber and place a rubber on the top, then install it back to the car. SC guy told me it will fix the nyek nyek sound. You may give them some idea for your next visit.

Besides, item #4 that i mentioned, is it happen to your car?
Today, I went to test drive a Mazda 3 again to confirm the knocking noise is common. Before test drive, the saleman sit in my car as want to listen the knocking noise i mentioned, but unfortunately it did not appear. Horrible thing is, it only happen when i drive alone!!!! Weight suppress the noise as what the SC guy told me? Maybe...

So the saleman gave me to drive a brand new car, which the tires air pressure is very low shakehead.gif . Then he drove my car follow me at the back to check on the noise i mentioned also.
So, the new Mazda3 that i drove did not have the knocking noise I mentioned, properly because it still new and the tires air pressure is low (absorb all the vibration).
Then he told me the noise that come out from my car on the uneven load is common. Well, i did not know is he heard it or not.

Seriously, i kind of fed up with my car. Now i just play the music loud to cover all those noise. Wait till warranty over, will go change the adjustable suspension. Hope this may help to eliminate the knocking noise.

Thanks for your reply and advice thumbup.gif hope to see your pics .thanks for your time and for doing it

I will tell the SC about the Nyek Nyek sound. Which SC implements this solution for you?

Yeah I still got #4 knocking sound

I would say "this problem is common" is not an acceptable reason to avoid the problem. So they design the car to have the knocking sound.? I don't think all M3 has this problems. Yeah, like your car, the sound doesn't happen all the time!
*
I have the picture where i paste the sponge-base tape (arrow - between the u-shape plastic and the car chassis ; circle - whole thing covered).
This does not eliminate 100%. For my experience, it helps reduce 90% of the frequency. Well, better solution than the SC ppl provide.

For the absorber stuff, Penang Sungai Pinang SC do that. where you from? KL? Penang?

Using Mazda 3 2.0 CBU for 2 years now.

1. Absorber only this month got noise coming out
2. Exhaust fume smell coming into the cabin if i drive at 120 km/h constant speed. They said they have fixed it but i can still smell it.
2. Knock Knock sound is a common problem in Mazda 3 but it is definitely not normal. Mazda SC have changed my steering rack once. Still the same issue and now it's getting worst.

Possible solution from Mazda Forum:
http://www.mazdaclub.my/forumv2/index.php?topic=3642.0

Knocking sound from front suspension is due to loosen ball joint on front camber arm.
I'm going to PS SC this Wednesday and try the fix as adviced
*
Thanks Bro!

It describe exact the same issue that i facing!!!
But my car just 5 months old, will it possible the ball joint issue happen?
