got coerce into taking this by my mum and fiancee.

Link to product: http://biogrow.com.my/Oat-Bran-Powder-Oat-...l-products.html

Is this good?

Side effects so far for me: diarrhea like symptoms when I visit the loo. But not really diarrhea just that faeces seems watery than usual. (sorry for the gross-ness no other better way to put it blush.gif )

Mum says is normal, eat this oat will clean your inside fats/oil. Means after taking this powder best to avoid oily foods? I'm confuse. (will definitely have the above symptoms after taking oily/fatty foods - usually on the next morning/noon)

Dont like taking a product seems like a laxative/detox. I don't really know what's the side effect of this and starting to doubt it.

But looking at its ingredients (made from 100% oats) I'm just scratching my head thinking how could any of it go wrong?? It would be way better than taking Herbalife (which I did in the past) since its ingredients in F1 is questionable.

Any thoughts, especially from users of this product?

Added on October 17, 2012, 3:01 pmsorry... it's made from imported Swedish Oats..

Check the list of ingredients on the label. What did it list?

approved by KKM and FDA, nothing to worry about smile.gif

it's just oats anyway, already known to be healthy food

It is written that KKM and FDA allow using those health claims on oat products, but did not state in that poster image that the product itself wss individually reviewed and approved by them.

ah, missed that. thanks for the clarification. well, either way, i dont think oat would do any harm. sweat.gif

Yes, the oat itself usually won't.
That is why I asked him the other ingredients, as oatmeal products usually contains only oats without any additives, ie check Quaker Oatmeal ingredients on the labeling.

I notice one thing, body just need to consume 3.6g Bg per day.
I BG 22 is 22% contains of Beta Glucon and BG 25 is 25% of beta Glucon, then I think Kordel's with oats 35 shall have 35% of beta glucon and make it the cheapest among all....

Check via the nutritional labelling for Beta Glucan or soluble fibre per serving, then per can.
The name may be misleading as Active Oat 35 may indicate 35% Promoat rather than the percentage of Beta Glucan.

In powder form?

That's processed food. Eat oats as it is in its natural form.

Not all "processing" is bad.
Your rolled oats from store is also "processed" in a way that most products are mechanically assessed and filtered from physical contaminant.

Powder form is the oats blended into tiny, more soluble form.
Those products are just the bran from the oats, blended into powder form for easier absorption.
In effect, you consume less for more of the active nutrient that contributes to the oat being healthy the first place.

The above is provided that there are no fillers or additives.

Kordel's oat 35, last for 26.5 days, RM59.9= RM2.2/day
live well oatley 20's (3 boxes last for 30days, buy 2 free 1=60 sackets,2 per day),RM69.90=RM2.33/day
Bio Life Barley BG 25 for 34 days,RM49=RM1.44
Bio grow BG 22, last for 26.5 days,RM58.90=RM2.2/day

Biolife seems the cheapest/most economic among all

Compare the contents as well.
The lesser the ingredients, and the greater the soluble fibre or beta-glucan the better.

all products suggest the beta glucan needed per day..right?
*
All products are required by law to have at least 3g of beta-glucan per serving if they want to display a labelling that the product helps lower cholesterol.
However, the average product contains around 3.6g per serving, with some at 3.2 to 3.8.

Any amount above 3g is already sufficient, but in this case, it won't hurt for a little more.
