Just now when i reached home, found out 1 of the black skirt tetras dead. Could it be that it was overfed? Other fishes look good, begging for food and energetic as always.

Have no idea about transportation and charge. But maybe u can get cheaper if got frens or relatives who have lorry. In my case, once the lfs delivered my tank with lorry, i asked the lorry owner for his number. Serve him drinks and borak2. Later he becomes my contacts. Last time he charged me 180 for moving my 5 footer together with man-power, angkat & pindah. |

Is there any way to keep the water in these kind of ponds crystal clear? QUOTE(antzz @ Nov 14 2013, 03:27 PM) Aba-aba has begun to eat lampams. It's mouth looks less swollen too. I didn't add any salt as I had no time to stop by the LFS. I guess fish kinda heal on their own. It did have me panicking though. The catfish is still there in the tank. The aba-aba seems to be scared of it. =_= I've to start clipping off the spikes before I feed it. Ask the LFS to get their people to carry the tank. Road side lorry people aren't very experienced. They may crack the tank during transportation. Should cost about RM500. |

QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Nov 15 2013, 11:15 PM) This pond.. OMG! A killer UV unit will do the trick. If you're looking for natural methods, you need to find a way to out-compete phytoplankton. Algae turf scrubbers are supposed to be effective, but the algae growth trays must be sufficiently sized to accomodate your pond volume. Hooking your pond up to veggie filters also work. Water plants like lilies, duckweed (difficult to control) and a balanced ratio of plants to fish is also a good method. Even hair algae is effective at stripping the water of nutrients, as unsightly as they may be to some hobbyists. Is there any way to keep the water in these kind of ponds crystal clear The simplest is still the UV. Just pay extra to TNB every month and change bulb 1-2 times a year. |

QUOTE(beer8bottles @ Nov 12 2013, 12:19 PM) Guys, my aba-aba injured its mouth. u can try to put some melafix to aid in healing and prevent infection.I noticed that it was behaving strange on Saturday evening, it wasn't swimming around the tank like usual. I thought that it was hungry, so I plopped in a catfish. It would chase after the catfish, corner it but then let it swim away. This has never happened before. It would normally just kill it on the spot. On Sunday, the catfish was still there. On Monday, the catfish had eaten up the cleaner shrimps and has gotten fatter. The aba-aba seems to be leaving it alone. I noticed that the aba-aba's mouth was slightly open, like it's saying "O". It's usually closed, and it has the smiling face appearance. Now, it just looks in pain. And there is also some whitish skin in its mouth. Just now, I sat there observing it and it opened its mouth and shook its head violently to try and get rid of the skin in its mouth. I saw that its tongue was injured and there was blood on the inside of the bottom jaw. Pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't know how this could have happen. It does like to move the sand about in the tank, but so far, for years, nothing like this has happened. And it usually eats up the catfish whole, so it can't be the spikes on the catfish. The aba-aba seems to come close to the glass and lift its head for me to see the injury. What should I do? Is there any treatment or something that I can do? There aren't any fish vets that I know of. I don't want it to die. should recover very soon. if possible relocate it to a empty tank without too much bling bling.
