Introduction

Thanks to ASUS Malaysia for giving me such opportunity to try out 1 of their board ASUS Sabertooth 99FX R2.0
My sincere apologies for the delay (1 month since before ASUS Power User in Penang) apart from changing OS (from windows 7 to windows 8) changing chip from FX8150 to FX8120 and changing ram (mushkin 24004GbX2, crucial tactical 1866 4GbX2 , gskill ripjawsX 1600 2GbX2) to make it run 2500Mhz .

Testbed used :



CPU LLC test
Bios setting
Vcore :1.15V

From the result, 'Auto' and 'Extreme' setting has almost same value. I'd recommend user to use 'Auto' for more stable OC


Temperature test
Tools : Infrared Thermometer HT-866
Bios setting -
- CPU LLC : ultra high
- Vcore 1.20V, CPU Clock : 3.0Ghz
Ambient temp : 28.7’C


CPU Temp : this is not accurate. I will prefer to monitor the CPU temp using CPUID HWMonitor software

Vcore 1.25V, CPU Clock : 3.0Ghz


Vcore 1.30V, CPU Clock : 3.0Ghz


Vcore 1.35V, CPU Clock : 3.0Ghz

We can see that higher speed CPU generates more heats even at same VCore with lower clock CPU



Overclocking Test : Memory OverClocking

I failed to make it run 2400Mhz 10-12-12 even with 1.7Vdimm



2. GSkill RipjawsX 2X2GB 1600 @ 2400 9-11-10 1.65Vdimm
Hyperpi 8M


GSkill RipjawsX 1600 2X2GB @ 2500 10-12-12 1.68Vdimm

3. Mushkin Redline 2X4GB 2400 10-12-12 1.65Vdimm
Actually this is the first memory i tested with FX 8150 CPU (loan from shah93. thanks bro) before change to FX 8120.
stock 2400 10-12-12 1.65Vdimm - Hyperpi8M


2500 10-12-11 done by my sifu Dato' Kuntawakaw but sadly not benchable. I want to try again with looser timing next time



Overclocking Test : HTT OverClock
First attempt with simply increase the HTT, lower the CPU multiplier and ram divider at bios
Result : 350 HTT


The system cannot boot if i push the HTT to over 350. Again my sifu guide me to achieve higher than 350HTT,
this time using AI Suite II software. This software was very easy to use and the result is 384 HTT was achieve!
