QUOTE(MathsGeniusOrNot @ Oct 16 2012, 03:14 AM) Hello guys, im considering getting the Razer BWU Stealth edition which is a brown MX.. currently have the BWU now.. its alright, the keys are loud.. but i have budget to get another mechanical keyboard, so yea guys should i get the razer BWU stealth? i usually use keyboard for FPS games, Online games and probably surfing the net too.. i take very good care of my keyboard so yea CM Storm Trigger should be a better alternative. Razer keyboards are not recommended. And for your information, Ducky had started making mechanical keyboards long before other "gaming" brands start to jump into the bandwagon, so their keyboards are very fine, and the latest Ducky Shine 2 has even more backlit modes to play with, compared to its predecessor Ducky Shine. Razer Blackwidow is made by iOne, which has some QC issue before this. I am not sure whether they had improved or not, but I would personally find another keyboard made by OEM that has good feedback. For peace of mind. If you are not into backlit, I recommend you to get a Filco. This post has been edited by zongeva: Oct 16 2012, 03:22 AM |

QUOTE(MathsGeniusOrNot @ Oct 16 2012, 03:50 AM) hmm in my opinion i dont think the fragile interpretation comes from the clickiness of the mx blue keys.. i think its basically the keyboard itself.. more solid.. sounds great to me.. but i only like keyboards with backlit I have a Filco Majestouch 2 Camo with MX Blue, and now typing this on CM Storm QuickFire Rapid with MX Red.These two keyboard are very solid and I love them very much. Basically I use the Filco during the daytime, while the Rapid when my housemates are asleep. Both of these switches gives me different kind enjoyable sensation when typing. They are also fine for gaming. MX Red is basically the light version of MX Black. I prefer Red than Brown because of the smooth linear characteristic. Brown feels almost similar to Red, but has a very weak tactile bump which I didn't like, because it makes the switch feels like rougher/scratchier Red. There is no "better" switch for gaming/typing/surfing or whatever activity you do with the keyboard, but only the switch that you like/prefer. I suggest you try all the different kind of switches in some shop that offer demo unit before you make any purchase. Actually if you can live without the backlit, your choices would be widen a lot more. Also, from what I read, LED should be the least durable component in a mechanical keyboard. |

QUOTE(MathsGeniusOrNot @ Oct 16 2012, 04:13 AM) hmm but my budget only around 300-350 =.=.. but i want the backlit at the same time lol.. any recommendations bro? You should try visit Heavyarm in Subang, I haven't been there before but my friends told me that the shop has some demo unit for you to poke with.Added on October 16, 2012, 4:16 am hello bro thanks for info, wow 2keyboards huh? good room mate aside from that, i've recently seen some review about the alienware tactx keyboard.. thats not a mechanical keyboard but the backlits are cool! is it worth to get that keyboard? cuz as they say ' once u go mechanical, u wont ever want to use a normal keyboard ever again' LOL As for backlit colour, I like white the most. It looks classy and also kinda easy for the eyes. Red should be fine also but I cannot stand with blue because of the glaring... Especially in the dark room. Now that I can touch type better than before, I didn't need to depend on the backlight to find the keys anymore |

QUOTE(ainuddin @ Oct 17 2012, 03:56 PM) my vortex sub-dye pbt keycaps from kai i think got some issues. a few keys so far the writing is sort of very worn-off, almost impossible to see at all, even in full well-lit room. it is black on (very) dark grey printing, so it is hard to see the contrast of the legends. I see mine become blank too sometimes, maybe because of the stains from my fingers I guess. |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Oct 17 2012, 09:58 PM) RK9000 mx blue feels great to type on, i think zongeva can +1 to the "Blue feels good for thee fingers" comment +1 QUOTE(Human10 @ Oct 17 2012, 10:15 PM) Then you should get this. You loss literally nothing but you gain literally everything one will ask for. hmm, hopefully Costar will make boards of this layout.![]() 1. PBT Keycap(those blank one is KBC POM) by default 2. Wireless 3. Backlit-able(just add your own LED and it is good to go) 4. TKL but with numpad 5. QUOTE(siles1991 @ Oct 18 2012, 01:25 PM) yea i know xD but its the closest I can get to a backlit board around RM250, if I can go a bit higher than 250 what could I get thats backlit, more or less whats the cheapest basklit mech kb I can get thats not DIY. Real man don't need backlit Consider CM Storm QuickFire Rapid. It is tenkeyless and is around that price range. QUOTE(dragorc @ Oct 18 2012, 06:05 PM) ducky shine 2 got 87 keys? I thought shine series only in full size... It should have the exact same backlit features as DK9008S2. I don't think it will have the special features from the Year of the Dragon.Added on October 18, 2012, 6:08 pmOh my bad Its ady posted before this page Added on October 18, 2012, 7:09 pm QUOTE(kyrmian @ Oct 18 2012, 06:33 PM) Well, I usually rest my left elbow on the book rack beside me, so my palm usually slanted to the left a bit, which makes the thumb rests on the very left side of the spacebar If the spacebar is shorten to the right by a wee bit, i will need to stretch my thumb to reach the spacebar already This post has been edited by zongeva: Oct 18 2012, 07:09 PM |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Oct 18 2012, 09:04 PM) i thought last time you posted one review that mentioned about the odd length of the spacebar and it being the biggest put off of the deal???? well, odd "+" holes positions for the PLUM96 oh... this time got built in internal memory? will it be able to save the lighting preferences that Shine v1 cant do? Coz if not mistaken, Shine v1 cannot maintain the mode of lighting, and will be "rebooted" after every restart? I think, last time got someone (not sure from geekhack or LYN) mentioned that should include one backlit mode which is at first all the 104 keys are lit, then each key pressed will put out the light, then the key relights a while after that, that i think is a more sleek and geek style of backlit, hopefully Ducky can put this into their next Shine v3 oh? another groupbuy? Yes Ducky Shine 2 has internal memory now to store the last active backlit mode and also 2 user defined modes And well Ducky S2 has the "Kamisama no Memo Chou" mode - the Reactive mode This post has been edited by zongeva: Oct 18 2012, 09:13 PM |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Oct 18 2012, 09:17 PM) I see, so this time really got internal memory, hope the next ver will incorporate the mode that i mentioned.... then i may be unable to resist and get it that time!!! (one of the reason being that although steel wire stabilizers are really awesome and nice, but the hassle to remove them to exchange keycaps even once already scared the shyt out of me) Yui even cosplayed as Alice and make a MV for that opening song, you can look for it. PS: haha.... the first time i saw that mode, i instantly remembered that Kamisama no Memochou's OP, that Apple aluminium keyboard XD and btw off topic, Kamimemo is a nice anime, really liked Alice, all hail Ogura Yui!!!!!!!! I like her voice very much Back to topic, ya Costar style stabilizer really need to be careful when taking them apart, feel like they are so fragile... QUOTE(rurushu @ Oct 18 2012, 09:35 PM) REALLY?! *opening youtube at new tab* Rumour has it that the KBT One/Oni(made by Costar) has satellite switches (Cherry style stabilizers) that feel very very close to Costar wire style stabilizerPS: yea, tried to learn from youtube videos already, all seems very easy to take out, but when i tried them myself, it is very stubborn to get out, sigh.... guess i really no skill in doing delicate work Last time tried the Duckies at Heavyarm way back before he bring in Rosewill and i think cherry style stabilizers (the satellite switches at the side of the main switch) actually not that bad, it is hardly noticeable when you're typing at a reasonable speed |

QUOTE(siles1991 @ Oct 19 2012, 12:09 AM) PLUM? Well if you have the money to go for backlit bling bling, then then by all means go ahead.I narrowed down to this 3. Below Rm400 backlit mech boards are they ok? DK9008 G2 Pro CM Storm Trigger Full Red LED RK-9100 Illuminated Blue Backlit If you have soldering skill, then you can buy a keyboard with pre-drilled holes, get some LEDs and DIY. If you don't have such budget and soldering experience, why bother? Just learn how to touch type. It is a useful skill. Edit: DK9008 G2 Pro - Not sure still in production or not. CM Storm Trigger Full Red LED - It is a good board. RK-9100 Illuminated Blue Backlit - Not sure about build quality, and note that it has three 1.5x modifier at the left. Notice the short spacebar? QUOTE(MathsGeniusOrNot @ Oct 19 2012, 02:01 AM) thks anyways.. Most importantly, do you like MX Black?Hmm guys if i have the chance to get the Mionix Zibal 60,Ducky shine 2,Kai's KBtalking Race keyboard which 1 should i pick? I love the ducky shine 2 because it has a variety of switches and colors to choose, but the Mionix zibal 60 on the other hand only has cherry black mx.. but the LED backlit is nice.. and the KBtalking race keyboard backlit looks very neat.. and what attracts me the most about the KBtalking keyboard is that there is no numpad, so i can place my mouse right beside the space where there is no numpad.. some of the user here recommend me that this is a better way for ur health, as in sitting posture.. but im afraid it'd be really awkward and uncomfortable.. so decisions guys? i need to get reply ASAP as im asking my fren to help me order from oversea.. thanks |

QUOTE(siles1991 @ Oct 19 2012, 04:15 PM) haha I did take your advice though I did a lot more reading on the "gaming" brands and reviews showed no problems so far, and the design and features attracted me. My gf likes things which look diff haha so she said to get either those 2 since its a present from her I can't really complain I showed her some of the others but she'd like these 2 more and i'm happy enough that'd she shell out that much for me so I don't really want to seem like i dont care what she likes You might not want to ignore CM Storm Trigger. It is Costar made.I like these 2 boards as much as the others I saw. If you still insist of choosing Corsair or Razer, well good luck. You'll need them. Added on October 19, 2012, 5:39 pm QUOTE(rurushu @ Oct 19 2012, 04:56 PM) for me, when i first migrate to mechanical keyboards, more specifically the cherry mx blue from rubberdome, the typing sensation felt great, it feels like you are not controlling your fingers, it just types.... and it definitely will improve your WPM later if not now. I also liked cherry reds, they felt very light and somehow easier to type faster XD Well, sem break began a few weeks ago and I got the Phantasy Star Online 2 fever. about gaming, im not really into gaming that much, so not really sure how they fare compared to ruberdomes Both blue and red switches feel great for gaming. Tapping (double/triple/quadruple/spam) problem, none. This post has been edited by zongeva: Oct 19 2012, 05:39 PM |
