guys, im new to mechanical kb here.. biggrin.gif am looking forward to get CM Storm Quickfire pro with mx blue switch. i have a few question here

1 ) i found some review mention the double tap problem with mx blue switch. will the key still be inserted if we double tap it without fully lifting my finger up?

2 ) any feedback on this kb ? thanks biggrin.gif
*
hmm.... actually i did kind of "feel" this sensation before, not during gaming though, but during typing, when you have to type 2 same alphabets, this kind of situation kinda slide in at these moments.... laugh.gif

oh.... you graduated already? last time heard you still studying in UTAR? laugh.gif

Guys, just now i cleaned my Rosewill RK9000. Boy that larger size modifiers keys.... that white thing, i really scared i would break them, i watched plenty of youtube videos teaching how to remove them, and then i tried the same way, but it didnt turn out as easy as the video show it would... maybe im too noob in this.... >.<

But then i found out one thing, my rosewill rk9000 mx blue, the larger modifier keys, the steel wire and the white clip parts, are lubed XD are all mechanical keyboards using costar style stabilizers are all pre-lubed??? because so far didnt hear this in any of the review though hmm.gif hmm.gif

I'm thinking of getting another mech keyboard for my home use/gaming

I'm considering these few keyboards : Pure, CM Storm Trigger, G710+, Ducky Shine 2. Not really in a rush so I could wait. Anyone could give me suggestion on the keyboards listed?

What I generally need is - Backlight, I type a lot with lights off.

About G710, so I was told the OEM would be iOne, which a lot of people giving bad feedback about their QC, how true is it?
*
wa.... why the size varied so drastically? Pure so compact, Trigger G710+ is fullsize + side macro keys and Shine 2 with standard layout???? im not sure how to recommend you, but if you only want backlit, then Shine 2 is the better choice for you among the mass. But if you got time and can wait, then i would suggest you wait for G710+ review to reveal the OEM behind it laugh.gif

QUOTE(noobandroid @ Oct 17 2012, 09:52 PM)
me too, holding back due to bad colors
*
are the colors really that bad? i think it is kind of nice though... just that cash is not very optimistic at the moment... need to replenish abit first sweat.gif

Then you should get this. You loss literally nothing but you gain literally everything one will ask for.

1. PBT Keycap(those blank one is KBC POM) by default
2. Wireless
3. Backlit-able(just add your own LED and it is good to go)
4. TKL but with numpad
5. PCB mounted for a lighter weight(though it isn't exactly the lightest board around)    444
*
i thought last time you posted one review that mentioned about the odd length of the spacebar and it being the biggest put off of the deal???? hmm.gif hmm.gif

QUOTE(zongeva @ Oct 18 2012, 03:58 PM)
Real man don't need backlit tongue.gif
Consider CM Storm QuickFire Rapid. It is tenkeyless and is around that price range.

oh... this time got built in internal memory? will it be able to save the lighting preferences that Shine v1 cant do? Coz if not mistaken, Shine v1 cannot maintain the mode of lighting, and will be "rebooted" after every restart? hmm.gif

I think, last time got someone (not sure from geekhack or LYN) mentioned that should include one backlit mode which is at first all the 104 keys are lit, then each key pressed will put out the light, then the key relights a while after that, that i think is a more sleek and geek style of backlit, hopefully Ducky can put this into their next Shine v3 drool.gif drool.gif

well, odd "+" holes positions for the PLUM96 sweat.gif

Yes Ducky Shine 2 has internal memory now to store the last active backlit mode and also 2 user defined modes  brows.gif

And well Ducky S2 has the "Kamisama no Memo Chou" mode - the Reactive mode tongue.gif

*
I see, so this time really got internal memory, hope the next ver will incorporate the mode that i mentioned.... then i may be unable to resist and get it that time!!! (one of the reason being that although steel wire stabilizers are really awesome and nice, but the hassle to remove them to exchange keycaps even once already scared the shyt out of me) drool.gif drool.gif

PS: haha.... the first time i saw that mode, i instantly remembered that Kamisama no Memochou's OP, that Apple aluminium keyboard XD and btw off topic, Kamimemo is a nice anime, really liked Alice, all hail Ogura Yui!!!!!!!!

I like her voice very much tongue.gif

Back to topic, ya Costar style stabilizer really need to be careful when taking them apart, feel like they are so fragile...  sweat.gif
*
REALLY?! *opening youtube at new tab*

PS: yea, tried to learn from youtube videos already, all seems very easy to take out, but when i tried them myself, it is very stubborn to get out, sigh.... guess i really no skill in doing delicate work sweat.gif Plus, i got 2 or 3 keys when i removed them, the white clip was left ON the wire stabilizer, i was shocked for a while, thought i broke my lovely Rosewill which is not even one month's old sweat.gif sweat.gif

Last time tried the Duckies at Heavyarm way back before he bring in Rosewill and i think cherry style stabilizers (the satellite switches at the side of the main switch) actually not that bad, it is hardly noticeable when you're typing at a reasonable speed laugh.gif So maybe if Shine v3 got that backlit mode, i might get a white LED ver of it laugh.gif laugh.gif

Rumour has it that the KBT One/Oni(made by Costar) has satellite switches (Cherry style stabilizers) that feel very very close to Costar wire style stabilizer

oh? really? im going to google more about it then, but very unusual for Costar to make cherry style stabilizers.... hmm.gif

Odd length of spacebar? Which board you mentioning about?

Plum having pretty standard dimension for keycaps(except the 0 and 00 may be).

Though, one thing to be noted is that it using a spacing similar to Keycool(probably, will confirm again once I am free to take out my keycool spacebar to do a comparison).

Add backlit to those without specially prepared circuit or holes for LED are pain as HELL. Only few ppl are willing to go through all those hassle and risk. If you are still interested, try ask Bai101(a member here) on his experience to mod his non-BL keyboard and add LED.

The PLUM I recommended afternoon just now is different though. It already had predrilled holes for LED and even the wiring circuit for it. What lacks are just insert your own LED.
*
oh, i cant remember which one already, i think someone here posted about it, it is also a 96key board.... the layout similar to the plum. So you saying that the Plum96 keys are all standard, just without the arrow and home area keys?

Oh, because i've read a lot of websites they all say that the Red's are really really light to the point its not nice for gaming and typing.

I've never used a mechanical keyboard before so would it be easy to get used to?
*
for me, when i first migrate to mechanical keyboards, more specifically the cherry mx blue from rubberdome, the typing sensation felt great, it feels like you are not controlling your fingers, it just types.... and it definitely will improve your WPM later if not now. I also liked cherry reds, they felt very light and somehow easier to type faster XD

about gaming, im not really into gaming that much, so not really sure how they fare compared to ruberdomes sweat.gif

LOL... this can be a conspiracy also. What if Razer send us the "GOOD" quality one for review, and then the rest are using the "normal" quality? There is no definite answer to their quality unless someone go to their factory and then randomly picked one of the keyboards from there for review, else it would be as close to meaningless sweat.gif

hmmm i'll consider the ducky shine 2...im going to heavyarm next month so hopefully I have chance to try diff type of keyboards xD
*
well, at heavyarm, the boss is kind and friendly enough to let you try all the types of switches, last time, i went there to buy razer mousepads, then i asked him to let me try some mechanical keyboards, and without any hesitation, he opened up some duckies for me to try, so in the end i managed to try out all the four switches even though i never bough any of them that day.

Pretty good service i would say, at least better than some sellers who are very reluctant to allow you to touch or open up products if you didnt express your intention to buy them sweat.gif

Osmium??? actually i was wondering why are you considering all these "gaming mechanical keyboard" when you already have good choices such as FILCO, Ducky, Rosewill and etc. Well, if you want backlit, Ducky Shine v1 or v2 already can deliver that for you, unless you need those "macro keys" or media keys that are offered in those so called gaming mechanicals, else why pay more for something similar? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

regarding the aluminium casing for the cherry 3494, if not mistaken, they also got release one prototype for filco tenkeyless.... and MKC also got make anodized aluminium casing for FILCO tenkeyless, but the price of the casing is RM1k, think is not worth, getting a custom Korean keyboard worth more in my opinion.... hmm.gif

QUOTE(zongeva @ Oct 26 2012, 03:54 AM)
I think there was something wrong with the cable, whenever I move the cable, the connection just simply cut off. Have to twist the cable in certain direction then can connect the keyboard... sweat.gif

Then sent back for RMA, waited for 3 weeks then he say the keyboard ready already. Paid the shipping for him to ship  back, wait another week again for him to reply. After that when I received the keyboard, found that it is MX Brown doh.gif
... I got a little anxious then I send him like 2 emails about the issue (also politely asking him to improve a bit), what I get back is a reply like "just return to replace", "stop sending emails about improving aftersales service and look at the calendar before you email, we don't work on weekends"... Seriously  shakehead.gif

Then I was like okay, ship back again... Then for some reason the Poslaju cannot deliver the keyboard to him, 2 times, both on weekdays (I doubt he also close shop on weekdays  notworthy.gif )
Then email him again to tell him about this, he say will go collect. Then one whole week no news from him... Email him again then he tell me MX Blue no stock...  shakehead.gif Kinda fed up already then I ask for refund  sweat.gif
Anyway, I am now considering Rosewill RK9000, Ducky S2, CM Trigger, CM Rapid, or KBT One/Oni...  hmm.gif
*
wa..... like that really like two face sellers..... very polite before sales and sleazy and rude after sales....
I bought my filco for collection purposes so i never opened it before, so not sure about mine whether got problem or not.... bought it early this year though....

I see... so considering new blue switch board? RK9000 is one solid board, plus it got 2 cables, in case like this situation where the cable is the culprit, can still change into another cable to use first.... plus got 3 years warranty, a very good deal for RM300.

KBT Oni i heard from you that it is made by Costar and had been using cherry style stabilizers intrigued me alot...
would consider that also as a good choice hmm.gif

Yeah the 3 year warranty kinda attracted me... Maybe I should wait for Heavyarm restock first tongue.gif

Not much review of KBT One/Oni about the feel difference of the stabilizers... Also a bit scared of getting faulty keyboard again... It would be a pain for the RMA process..  sweat.gif
*
hmm.... yea, KBT Oni's reviews are still scarce on the internet.... maybe not yet that popular.... hmm.gif

QUOTE(kyrmian @ Oct 26 2012, 10:03 AM)
Not really, even if they released it, you'd have to wait longer just in case, and wait for reviews to be released.  rclxm9.gif  So ducky is a good choice. smile.gif
*
Reviews already available, even a full dismantle review is available in overclock.net (if im not mistaken, forgot saw from which forum already sweat.gif ) and it seems like they are speculating that its OEM is the same as Corsair's K90....
