Hi guys, I'm new to mechanical keyboards. Currently thinking of getting one which will be use mostly for typing and maybe gaming once in a while. Can give a recommendation as to which type of switches is the best for typing and keyboard models that will suit my needs? Thanks.
I am actually typing this post with my CM Storm QuickFire Rapid MX Red.
Not sure is it only me or what, the Cherry MX Red gives a very different typing sensation when compared to the MX Blue. It has a very smooth and light feeling that is quite pleasant when I am typing. Another phrase to describe it might be "cloud of boobs"

I had typed quite some assignments with this keyboard, and I did made a few mistakes in the beginning, most probably because I haven't get used to it yet. After spending some time with it, my typing accuracy had actually improved.
Another thing is that when I game using this keyboard, the MX Red feeling just kinda blends into the game that sometimes makes you feel like there is no keyboard in front of you

I bought a Filco with MX Blue switch as my entry board, and I absolutely love the clicky and tactile feel if it. It really feels that nice. I also game with this keyboard sometimes, and yeah it handle games just fine, no problem or whatsoever. Besides the click sound actually helps me a lot when I am unsure if I really pressed the keys or not, whether in typing or gaming.
I tried my friend's Filco Ninja with MX Brown, and I can say I totally dislike this switch. The tactile bump is too weak, in my opinion, which also makes the switch feels like MX Red, but with a very weird friction in there. Well that's just me.
TL;DR: You need to try out all kind of switches possible before proceed and purchase one. You can do that in some shops that offer demo units for you to poke with.
