ok.. guys...

what i did?

Reflash my 9550 with a HiS 9550 128mb 5nx bios, previously it was 9600np bios..

OCED (350/240), 3008
OCED(300/240), 2896

STOCK SPEED(250/196) i get 2405

but i'm worrying bout one thing.. my mem is suppose to be 128mb... my windows detec as 128mb... BUT, 3dmark03 keep detecing it to have only 64mb



i added my systeminfo attachment from 3dmark03 ...

under the display device.. what's bothering me is TOTAL AGP MEMORY : 64MB

If.. Marker detect.. that.. so .. yr GC. 64MB,
maybe got some... prob with.. ur RAM , reflash to default

hahah.. i don't have the default bios..

windows detect it as 128mb, 3dmark03 detect as 64mb..

i don't think my card has 64mb... because i tried flashing it with a 9550 256ram... it wouldn't boot into windows... i have to flash it back to 128mb....

so if my card only has 64 mb, it wouldn't boot into windows because the bios is 128





anyway... out of boringness.. i modded my card cooling system.......

i took off the stock fan, fitted with an OLD unused Case fan.....

after doing some test run.. i can bring it to 375mhz/250mhz...


BTW, my stock fan is 12v 0.1A, the modded CASE fan is 12v 0.15A

i use the socket on the VGA card........ the new fan needs 0.5A more.. i'm afraid my VGA card will be damage or burn because of the fan.,.,.


ALSO if i guess correctly.... i belive the Heatsink provided isn't doing it's job of conducting heat..

I had a 9550 128MB 128bit from Gigabyte. Now it's with my brother along with my old winny and av8 mobo. It did 400/250 and scored 13-14k in 01se. The core could go higher without any artifacts but I really never bothered to oc the crap out of it anyway. The mem is already at the max very lousy for a 4ns ram. Infineon sheesh.

4ns ram only manage 250????


my 5ns ram could manage 240....

at this speed in CS:S hardly noticeable or no artifact..

but with ATT(ATI tray tools) i get artifacts at 205mhz...

Yep only 250 but no artifacts though. I'm guessin not enough Vs. Might do a Vmod someday and oc the crap out of the mem.

now test it.. core 450/310 with stock cooler.

if i flash my GC with 9600 bios, 3dmark03 test 2(shooting in space) won't work... i will see the space clearly... but the humans in the building.. i can only see black images moving..

flash to 9550, test 2 works...can see the human in building.. and outerspace

well... i noticed something..

My GC performs normally with 9550 bios..

if i flash it to 9600 bios.. there will be a drop in performance

ok guys.. i have... what program u all use to test for artifacts??


i installed zalman-vf700cu ./.. well... with Ati tools, i'm already getting artifacts at 375mhz.. GPU

artifacts means that u have already hit the limit....lower your clock when you see artifacts.
try to re-mount the heatsink. btw what thermal paste did you used?

one more thing, each card has its own limit. if everybody get their core to 400mhz it doesnt mean that your card will be the same. most cheap cards have a bad power circuitry and this could limit your oc badly.

so keep that in mind when you oc. always be cautious when you start seeing artifacts because thats the first sign of trouble.

i'm using ATI Tray Tools.

ok.. i use Ati tray tools... my max GPU is 400mhz before any artifacts..

while the mem... i cannot OC at all... even 5 mhz, ATT artifact scan will detect artifacts..


haha in short... my 9550 is a stock 9600 ...lol

as for the 375/250... though CSS got no noticeable artifacts... i doin't dare to put the mem so high.,... because at 210.... Ati tray tools gives me a lot of artifacts..

BTW... i only attach the ZAlman vf700cu heat sink..... i didn't use the RAM sinks yet.. too short.... i orders new sinks from a local shop.. should arrive 2 more days...

it seems that different bios gives me different results..

With my Card's original bios, i can only touch MAX

400/200

WIth ATI 9550 bios, MAX

450/210 >>>>BUt Pixel Shader 2.0 won't work at anyclock..

with HiS 9550 bios...

450/200

gecube 9550 extream

default: core-400 mem-300
oced : core-450 mem-325

and 9550 xt was the same core as 9600pro or xt but the memory scale down already. so the 9550 bois should be same as 9600.

Mine GeCube 9550GT 400/400 default , can anyone know how much mine can overclock to on stock cooling ?

but when i use Ati Tray Tools to do it automatically(Find MAx GPU).... i only managed 282mhz??? Holy COW... i have installed vf700cu .. how come so low?

Find max core and mem. u'll know after Artifact out.
