Harper voyager is the publisher of the UK edition of the book while Bantam / Random House is the US publisher. The UK,like many European and Asian countries prefer smaller books so big books like fantasy novels get broken up so they can be carried about on public transport, etc. Americans generally have their books next to their bed and read before they sleep so big books aren't a problem.

In terms of content both books are the same. The Voyager version has more spacing and slightly bigger font while the Bantam version is more compact. You can notice the difference in A Dance with Dragons as Voyagers version is a lot thicker even though the content is almost the same.

I would say if you don't like compact text get Voyager. If you want a book that's easy to carry around, get Voyager for book 3 but bantam for the other 4 books because they're smaller.

In Book 5 however (a Dance with Dragons -paperback), the Harper Voyager version contains an excerpt from The Winds of Winter (Book 6) while the Bantam version doesn't. Just FYI.

When someone mentions the "international" version of the book, they're usually referring to the Voyager version.

I have both versions. Prefer the Harper Voyager version.

Partly because the text and maps aren't as 'compressed' as Bantam's and also partly because the Bantam version has "HBO's Game of Thrones" plastered all over the cover (some are just words at the top of the book and some replace the whole cover with a poster from the TV show).

Not a fan of movie tie-in editions. Harper Voyager's version has a small Game of Thrones logo on the back which is elegantly placed not plastered on to attract attention.

Well, this is the LYN Book Club subcategory and OP clearly mentions the two parts in aSoS which is a paperback.

You're more than welcome to talk about the slipcase cover editions. I believe they're blue and are priced at RM199 each. And book 3 is 1 book and not in 2 parts.
