I suppose, for all of us non-fruity fans, this is the best damned phone ever to date. Even perhaps the best damned phone EVER, period.

Of course, we need Note 3 to be the next best damned phone this time next year.

u student you never understand why you say like that immediately know u always hook to power or burden yourself with a power bank.

We working we need the phone for a full day usage. Cannot be every 4 to 5 hours i need to find a charger or keep charging in the car.

Btw as a noob do you know the speed of 2G/2.5G, 3G and 3.5G?
*
aspire,
While working, I'm pretty sure we are using notebooks for work. Just cucuk the USB cable to your phone...problem solved.

You can even walk around from meeting room to meeting room with the notebook and phone connected that way.

No need to carry power bank, your nb battery is a massive one already.

Holy smokes. New thread already. brows.gif

Saw that the discussion were on mainly color and battery.

Battery life for me is just stellar. I can say it lasts about twice as long as my s3 which I had a couple of months back.

Colour... Grey looks good and white looks good too.. end of story. Both colours look cheap cause they are both cheap plastics. If u wan scratch prone but superior materials,  just please go get an iphone 5. Heck, im still considering the iphone 5 as my 2nd phone. lol.
*
No doubt color is a personal preference, but since I do also think that "polycarbonate (PCA)", like babies' bottles, still scratch although PCA is durable, and that fruity's newest anodized aluminum finish also scratches very easily, we just use a nice casing.

Of course a casing should also match your set color or provide a nice contrast.

Nope..dont think so.
But..can always try. Maybe can force to download mode but definitely cannot reset counter anymore biggrin.gif

This increasing lockdown by all manufacturers will increase the frustration of the hobbyist adopters like us. Well written piece by some open sourcer highlights this problem clearly. Unfortunately since people like us a only a very small minority of the overall user base, I wonder how devices like Note 3 and onwards will be like vis-a-vis mod-friendliness.

i just done backup....1st time in my life....but only 17mb ????

Personally, I don't think that sounds right. Nandroids I've done for Note1 weigh in at least 500mb.
Other sifus, please advise.

What are you using for making the nandroid?

Actually with the hack - now one can easily use external 64 GB sdcard as internal memory
So far so good - everything is working well

Bwahaha..what you gonna fill inside..? laugh.gif
Uncle Benny already success convert his 16GB phone to 64GB without problem.
*
Hmm, from a technical perspective, I am thinking aloud, if this will make backup easier by simply cloning your SD card as an offsite backup ?

Since now SD="internal", remove and clone onto PC or second SD should make backups a lot easier.

ya I know
good luck on waiting, but normally you getting 32gb
see the best example for s3 64gb, no news at all
but I very curious, after factory reset need to flash that mod again right ?
*
Yes, this is a good question, is the mod persistent across different roms or factory resets?
I suspect not since a factory wipe is, well, a wipe.....and when u flash a fullwipe rom, it should wipe too, but then again, would like to know the actual results.

I think the fastest SD card on earth now is still much slower than raw internal memory. Like how you cant do burst mode camera saved direct to sd card. Correct?
*
Actually, the NAND on the internal and on your SD card is likely the same. The write speed depends on the write controller, and since Exynos is an SoC with stacked NAND (up to 64Gb hmm), the local write will be faster.

If Sammy uses a good write controller for the external NAND, it should not be too bad.

I remember the old Sony PDAs using PalmOS which had CF card slots but used a sh*t write controller which screwed up the main benefit of having a CF card in the first place.

Sorry, I'm a truly noob in Android. I don't know a single thing about rooting and I think I will not do that soon till I'm more familiar with this platform.

XDA Love for GN2

http://www.xda-developers.com/android/gala...a-developers%29

The current iteration of CF-Root for the Galaxy Note 2 has been named CF-Auto-Root and comes with some key caveats along with the typical installation notes:

The previous root methods via recovery broke the CACHE partition, causing issues with Triangle Away and Mobile ODIN. This release of CF-Root is preliminary to resolve these issues.
This is a one-flash-root thing which automatically installs root, then returns your device to the stock recovery. This is required for OTAs and some DRM-style apps
