Hi guys,
I am a newbie to exchanging currency for overseas travel.
I am flying to the Phillippines next week. I tried purchasing Philippines Peso here but major banks like PB Bank, MBB and CIMB do not sell. I managed to change RM1504 to 480 USD based on today's exchange rate of MBB (3.135 exchange rate).
So if I change the USD to Peso upon arriving at Philipines, will I get slightly lesser pesos? Or should I try to get MYR exchanged into PHP before here before taking the flight.
Pls enlighten me on where can I purchase Pesos in Malaysia? It seems like finding a needle in the ocean. I also visited websites of major banks in the Philippines and found that only 1 bank is willing to accept MYR for PHP whereas most banks prefer to exchange USD into PHP.
The PH government imposed a limit of PHP 10,000 per person (around RM700) and I heard that the immigration officers would open your wallet to check how much money you are brining and some will ask for bribes if you brought more than the limit.
I found that CIMB has foreign currency dispenser ATM machine but I cannot find the rates. Is the rate better than exchanging money at banks/ money changer?
