Nowadays, they changed the rule. Above RM3k , all customers must record IC.

This is really ridiculous for such a small sum.

I changed 4.5k to Thai baht in mv, they didn't ask for my ic

Please tell me which shop in mid valley. I will go there to exchange next time.

There are 4 shops there.

1. Money master
2. rapid million
3. mv forex
4. max money

1 and 3 are side by side with long queue.

The one on the left, beside the escalator going up, the other money changer on the right requires me to provide ic even tho I change only 2.5k to twd

You mean the shop with a lot of Malay girls wearing tudung? Or the shop with a lot of indian guys?

Both these shops are beside the escalator going up.

Moving to Malaysia and I have to exchange around 2000usd to rm to deal with renting a place and some other stuff for which I will require quite a ton of cash upfront and I don't think the ATM will dispense that amount of money and for sure not at the best rate...

Where to get the best rate? How safe is it? Am I better off with a bank?

Preferably around KL sentral or cyberjaya
*
Best rate will always be in the shopping mall mid valley as there's a long queue everyday . Bank rates ain't appealing at all
