for me I'll recommend you to set target at BT 303 (RM860) if you seriously need more on performance. Still you can try on Edge Entry Level, 2nd hand value very high all EDGE product. No worry when u plan for upgrade. U need to have faith on this product 1st 

What I can tell is .. got Waja manual owner happy with Edge Entry Level Always hit 7000 RPM over gear 2 .. easily

i) What is the most significant difference between models besides having a higher price tag? Is it different types of internals, quality of internals etc.
significant on power and audio performance.
example, BT 303 run in 30 hours may equal to Entry level 80 hours run in.  Entry level improve pick up, same BT303 will do but much better and smooth. For sure internal parts not the same.

ii) The BT-502 boasts a price tag of over 1k for a VS, what other guarantee is provided that the unit won't stop working after the covered warranty period eg. 13 months? If it lasts the lifetime of a car ie. 10 years then it's worth the investment.
  I didn't put BT 502 in the sale list, just for info share. From what I know many BT 502 user start from lower level. After test and clear of doubt then only have fact to higher level product. If you can read from cari EDGE sales thread, the creator did mention the grade of capacitor he use can last long like old type television. After minus 50% because of engine bay heat it should last minimum 15 years.  If you feel impossible .. can ask over there 

iii) In the event of mishandling short-circuitry rendering the unit broken or malfunctioned after the warranty period, is there a repair service provided for a certain amount of fee or do we need to purchase a whole new unit?
Yes. cost will be quote.  

I'm a VS user myself though not EDGE and I'm not doubting the authenticity nor function of the product but as a fellow consumer, it is better to provide more facts to the public as the price tag is higher compared to any other conventional VS D.I.Y or branded for that matter.
Most of the facts are user's feedback over sales thread and during EDGE TT self experience. Many users are poison by their own feel, when meet with EDGE VS users.

I using Little Giant VS for my Saga FL 1.3 auto Exec. Is alreday 100 hours over. Just installed, still long way to go.... lol
