I remember when the current Galaxy Nexus was still a prototype, the "leaked" images also had a "with Google" branding. Or maybe it's indicative of the new Nexus program, where we'll see multiple Nexus devices in future.

As for this LG Nexus, it looks kind of plain from the leaked pictures. Tbh, I don't think I'll "upgrade" from my current Galaxy Nexus this year. Will wait and see what Jolla announce first. If that turns out to be nothing impressive, might go back to iOS with the iPhone 5, or maybe I'll search for a cheap feature-phone with amazing wifi-hotspot battery life and carry my Nexus 7 everywhere instead. Ever since I got the 7, I've only used the Galaxy Nexus for calls, SMS and teethering.

Still sad that Nokia killed Meego after the N9. The new Nokias look beautiful, but I've been anti-Microsoft for over 10 years now (I'm primarily Linux and OpenBSD user), so I won't touch anything containing Windows operating systems.

i think google will never ever make killer nexus device.
sure must "handicap" it on purpose one.

galaxy nexus
weak chipset (same GPU as galaxy S1),weak camera,16gb and no sd card

nexus7
weakest quad core compared to exynosquad& S4pro, no 3g,16gb and no sd card)

they definitely did it on purpose because the technology is there at that time.
if google make the best nexus device without the weakness above and sell it at flagship price, then other android device wont have much value, people all buy nexus device only.

i think google is aiming to promote competition.
so will have more android device out there.

HTC and Samsung already strong player/
so they try promote asus with nexus 7.
help out the weakest player which is LG with upcoming nexus.
help another weak player with is Sony by including xperia S into AOSP.

just babbling my silly opinion, may not be true tongue.gif haha

Only speculation on my part, but I think it's more Samsung's fault. They didn't want the Nexus line "interfering" with their Galaxy S series. And to be fair, the timing was off. Nexus devices need to be well tested, and Tegra3 was just too new at the time to put in the Galaxy Nexus. Exynos was out of the question as Samsung have way too much proprietary shit in the design (Nexus has to be as open as possible). Also, LTE was a concern (for US), and at the time there wasn't an Exynos that supported LTE and EU/Asia GSM bands on the same SoC. They wanted the same SoC for both GSM and LTE models (with only separate cellular chips), and Ti was the best fit at the time.

That's partly because of price. The chip isn't really that bad compared to the faster Tegra3s (read up on Nvidia's Kai strategy and manufacturing process). Faster Tegra3 models, ExynosQuad and Krait S4 would have made the device more expensive.

As for lack of SD, I think all future Nexus devices will not feature SD anymore. It was stated in some Nexus roadmap/guidelines. Including 3G would have also hiked the price up, plus market research would have told them that wifi-only models sell much more than 3G+wifi models (even for iPad).

Lastly, if they made the device wifi-only, they wouldn't have to depend on carriers to sell it. Getting carriers out of the way is the best possible solution to reduce fragmentation with updates. For example; You remember all that yakju nonsense Samsung did with the Galaxy Nexus? That was the carriers fault. They all insisted on different firmware, so that they could stagger updates. Verizon Galaxy Nexus users in the US are still on ICS, it's a disgrace!! Same for those people in the middle-east on the yakju-jp set.

You've got it upside down. It's Sony themselves who voluntarily include as much Xperia blobs into AOSP, without anyone forcing or "helping" them. I suspect their main aim is basically research, to see what they can learn from the open source developers.

Nexus phone is not all about spec.
It's about the OS update and custom ROM.

then you might getting it soon? Rumour: LG Nexus to cost $399, for 8GB unit. Obviously, every google nexus phone make is not to compete each brands flagship, HOX, S3, etc.... google direction is to help all vendor, as they already support htc, samsung and now helping weak player, LG. next will be Sony & Motorola.

I guess the multiple manufacturer nexus rumor before meant this way:
1. Nexus 4 (as hot topic here, from LG)
2. Nexus 5 (previous rumor is HTC 5" phablet)
3. Nexus 10 (rumor is samsung for 10" tablet, 2,560 x 1,600 resolution)

not 5 vendors for 5 phone (size below 5"). if count these 3 above + Nexus 7 & Nexus Q = 5 different nexus devices as google said before as planned to release.

I guess this year end, google may announce too 32GB nexus 7 + 3G sim support together with new nexus above? then you may skip this LG, consider N5/10 (as I'm) then wait for next year end again nexus might be Sony/Motorola.

Same here. I'd love to see a "Nexperia".
Wouldn't mind if Panasonic released a Nexus Eluga as well. Some of their Eluga models for Japan are sexy.

Will just have to wait and see.
