your dps level doesnt have anything got to do with that.
if you're calculating spirit regeneration versus consumption, it's how u manage your skills and rotation. your dps has no relevance. unless you want to place in the subject of killing whites/elites in low MP, where you kill everything in short time frame, then we're talking based on different point of view. im referring to an efficient rotation. which gives constant dps boost with sufficient spirit regeneration.


our spirit pool (150) does not allow us to spam all buffs at one go. it's given that monks spam spirits for dps, sometimes for buffs/serenity.
i not only spam MoC, but also BoH/blinding flash. maybe that's why i feel exploding palm doesnt fit into the picture.

-MoC takes away 50spirit, spam at every 3seconds.
-BoH takes 25spirit - 15% for 45seconds + 16% for 15seconds (spam at every 15seconds) with passive
-blinding flash takes 10spirit - 30% for 3seconds (spam at every 15seconds)

with the 3 above, (take into consideration if monks pop serenity/ sweeping wind once in a while) that takes 10+75spirit away.

spirit management is screwed if were to include exploding palm which consumes 40spirit, in 9seconds.
by allocation exploding palm, meaning you have to take one of these away.

>BoH
>Blinding Flash

and by calculating that. the dps increase is lesser than what you can get from BoH/Blinding Flash, which consumes lesser spirit, and gives higher dps boost.

BoH is only worth spamming with guiding light passive. 15% itself is nice but not awesome.

and yuhhaur also replied to what i wanted to say..
as i was debating with 3p/4p inna versus 2p inna. the stat i lose is too much to take.

actually i dont think monks go for 3p inna. the spirit regen rate is so puny. it's either 2p or 4p in most cases. or in the case of all monks ive met.

@paranoid: I maintain the fleet footed passive for both solo and coop games. In solo, I get to clear the maps fairly quicker and in coop, i get to kite and resurrect fallen brothers especially in uber runs...smile.gif

Any suggestions to replace that passive?

i use fleet footed in solo. but in coop it's kinda useless. at our level of play, most ppl dont die anymore. or at very low frequency.
since u too use BoH. i always use guiding light. it gives dps boost to all your party members, instead of only healing them and gives only you the short dps boost.

it's good to use that for your SW too. im refering to the bug for SW.

i'd take away the helm. u can go for mempo which also gives crit, and also IAS.
most monks wouldn't let go their belt.

other than that.. the chest n pants, maybe pants might be better because it gives 12%MS.
both also offer 1random prop only.

yes, BoH heals, you dont need MoH for guiding light. BoH can do that. as long as you stand near your allies, in most cases, they are just in range.

about the bug for SW. when you cast SW, the % of the damage on your sweeping wind will be take from your dps at that very moment. it stays as long as your SW is on. unless you lost 3seconds and you have to recast it again.

so actually my biggest part of concern regarding spirit management above is also due to why im sticking to this build.

you cast MoC + BoH first. monitor your dps number. u have to do the next step before BoH cooldown.
wait till you get full pool of spirit. you will cast blinding flash and immediately SW before 3seconds goes off.

in most cases your dps would go beyond 200k at that short moment.
use SW at that moment.

test it.. u melt the white mobs right away.

if you have enough spirit. u can recast SW so it stays. if you lose SW, u need to repeat from start that again.

you need buffs, not debuffs.
it takes a percentage of YOUR damage. additional damage on mobs doesnt apply.


actually i've also realized something..
exploding palm is applied on only 1 target. 40spirit is too expensive to spend lol.

if you go solo. use fleet footed, and then blade storm on sweeping wind.

if coop, low mp i use master of wind (they die too fast anyway, 20seconds saves me a lot of spirit and panic to run around)
if high mp, still cyclone is the best.

i have actually tried exploring almost every skill.
exploding palm almost everytime, kills everything around them when they die.

my habit is to spam MoC at every 3seconds, the moment the icon goes off on my screen i jam that button again.
same goes for BoH. the icon cooldown tells you exactly when to spam that again.
when i used exploding palm. it depends on the speed of the party. i have to time my skills so it doesnt take longer than 9seconds for them to kill a specific target i mark. else 40spirit goes to waste. and most of the time when the elite has 9seconds to live, coop players smash their ulti. lol
like 7ss, BBV.. etc. usually when any champ/elite is dying, i spend less effort in calculating my skill timing. too lazy for that lol.
and the main reason is probably i wont have 40spirit at that very moment.

say.. in an encounter elite, i would probably use 10x BoH in the entire fight. that's constant dps for all party member.
exploding palm only once when they die. the bleeding part is not worth replacing BoH imo.

for my monk, i dont use BoH unless i use guiding light passive. i dont see the point oh BoH without that passive.

comparing exploding palm with blinding flash, for my monk i would go for blinding flash.
the blind is awesome, the dps is bonus. plus i get to spam that without worrying. only costs 10spirit.
blinding flash is a better skill to aid coop play the way i see it, compared to exploding palm.
my logic is that the skill rocks, but only once in any elite fight. blinding flash is constant.

for me, it's not worth it.

it's up to your preference if you think exploding palm gives you more damage.
i'm talking about coop games. blinding the mobs (huge aoe) does not sound fancy if you only take into consideration of yourself in the gameplay because monks are tanky you wouldnt bother getting hit.
it's the same as why would barbs wanna stun the mobs in coop games, do you think they stun because they need it for themselves?
it's how ppl choose their skills in coop games.
even exploding palm has no cooldown, spamming 40spirit just for the bleed on a single target, that is not wise to waste my slot on that skill. exploding palm on works wonders when the champ dies, not during the entire fight. and for what reason do we need to spam exploding palm? i dont think you're refering to use it against a white mob. no matter how i see it.. that skill is not really that efficient in my games.
if exploding palm is way much better, im sure most monks wouldnt be using blinding flash already.
but anyway, it's up to how you play your game. im explaining why i see blinding flash > exploding palm.
if you really see it otherwise, im not forcing you to use blind.

not all demon hunters manage high MP well.
in most cases melee have to come into the picture, which is part of the reason why ranged class seek for melee classes to coop for high mp farming/uber.

they dont solo for a reason.
if i dont switch my playstyle/skills in either solo or coop games. why do people even care to play coop with me? if all i do and care about is myself.
if a dh is too good, they dont need to go coop because it's going to slow them down.

it's not about satisfaction cruising MP9-10 alone.
i prefer coop games anytime better than solo. games are not meant to solo. i would play ps3 if i want to go solo.

any by coop i mean having different classes depending on each other in a game. like how you feel when u're raiding in a 20man raid. that is my part of satisfaction in game. i wont feel frustrated or sad if i have to depend on a monk/barb if i play DH. it thrills me how people play covering for each other in the game. not play and save themselves in the game.
it's my fault if ranged dies if im the tank. i dont feel like oh he/she's a noob because he/she dies and i have to keep reviving this fella. it means im playing it wrongly.

we're looking from different perspective.
the way u described is like 4 of you are playing individually in a coop game.

dont really get where you're going.
no matter which class i pick. i still prefer coop. ranged can be dh or wiz.
i never said dh are individualistic heroes or that monks are not.
if by my example you feel that im generalizing dh as a weak class, you dont get my point right.

ranged = high dmg, low defence
melee = low dmg, high defence

games are meant to be this way, for you to play coop. else why not jsut roll a balanced class for everyone.
hence, my example using monk versus dh.
every class has their own capabilities of going solo and coop. my preference is coop, which is why i dont see the solo point of view to be applied in coop games.

doesn't matter how u looked me up or thinks who I am. I was trying to make my point why i see different classes come into picture in coop games.

when u have your own opinion nobody stopped you from sharing n debating otherwise, in a proper manner. not by sarcasm and insult.

but then again, you don't have to take me seriously, I'm just sharing my thoughts on how I see the game, the way I played it, not telling how you should be playing it.

d3up 's EHP is lower compared to diabloprogress website.
my EHP is 642k in diabloprogress but only 480k in d3up.
