I have been having acne since March this year. Now it is October and my acne still have not healed. But, it is getting worst and worst. I went to normal clinics, the doctors gave me antibiotics and cream but it still did not help.

I would like to go to Hospital Kuala Lumpur to see a dermatologist for my acne problem because other private hospitals are too expensive. What is the procedure to see a dermatologist at HKL? I am a student at private university, so what would be the estimated cost? How long I would have to wait for appointment?

I thinks its better you would see a private practiser, not that I would discourage goverment hospital cause of the normal stigma that goverment hospital is crap, but because its better for you to treat it straight away then waiting for another week or 2 waiting for an appointment. If its severe acne, maybe, they'll prescribe accutane to you, the best drug in the market atm, to treat severe acne. If its scar, maybe, keloids has formed, and the best treatment would be cryotherapy, though, this would only be available in the goverment hospital, or the 2nd best treatment for scars are steroids injection (its similar to steroids). But treating acnes would be the first priority before going on about the scar. SEE THE DOCTOR ASAP!! All the best smile.gif

Its nothing severe, its just minor acne. Just that it gets mild for awhile, then gets 10% bad, then maybe heal back abit, then get slightly worst back again. And 6 months d like this. Currently its kind off in the healing phase. So 2 weeks should not be any problem and I willing to wait.

you can go to the outpatient dept in hkl and tell ur problems to the doc. if he sees that u need derm treatment then he will give u the referral letter. bring tht referral letter to the counter in derma dept and she will give you an appointment date to see dermatologist. yes govt hosp sometimes need to wait for quite some time..but trust me, sometime govt hosp smetimes gives better services smile.gif good luck thou

govt hosp might take a long time for appointments.
I'm actually having bad acne problem too, been using plenty of skincare which didn't help me.
Now I just use lemon juice diluted with water to wash my face along with a facial cleanser.
pat dry with towel and apply aloe gel. Now my face is almost acne-free! biggrin.gif

normally u have to go to a nearby klinik kesihatan first, and if they cannot manage then only they will write a referral letter to HKL. make sure the klinik is near hkl, otherwise they will refer u to another hospital.

Dont take anything orally, they will prescribe u with craps like tetracycline an antibiotic which makes your body crappy, and then if that doesnt work doxycycline which is even worst, and lastly accutane which is poison to your body , go read the side effects. Cream or ointment like isotretinoin isnt ideal in this tropical weather of malaysia.

All these are waste of time except accutane.
