Hi, new in this section. I hope you ladies can help me with a lil something.

Planning to get a lipstick for my gf as a gift but as a guy, I'm pretty clueless bout cosmetic stuffs.

Would be of great help if you ladies out there can suggest something. I tried searching from zero on the internet but would like to know more before purchasing or making a fool out myself asking silly questions at the shop later on haha.

Color: something light, pink or nude color? (her preference) I like red lipsticks but thats too 'loud' for a corporate working envinronment (comments?) Well most importantly it should look good on her

Use: Mostly at work

Budget: let's say, RM200-250? (I have no idea lol)

Links and pictures are greatly appreciated
Thanks!

P/S: Not sure if there were older topics on this, I did use the search engine but kinda irrelevant results so please pardon me if this is a repost topic

christian dior has really sweet color and hydrate lipstick. just pop over to the counter and ask for shades of pink color lipstick. you may choose from there.. plus you need to know what kind of shade pink lipstick that suits her. channel's lipstick is good too!

with your budget for just one lipstick, i am sure you can buy just any brand as one lipstick doesn't cost that much. haha! at most it will be RM90 or slight over RM100ish.

i personally prefer japanese brands like kose, coffret d'or (discontinue in malaysia), shiseido maquillage isn't bad too. however, if there isn't any particular brands that your gf likes, you may wanna try christian dior. i myself wanted to try that one day. haha!

A budget of RM 200 to 250 can buy you more than one lipstick. Even branded ones like Dior and Chanel cost RM98 for one lipstick. One of the most expensive lipsticks you can get would be from Guerlain or Cle de Peau where lipsticks cost 120 plus.

I would recommend Dior because they have great light colour lipsticks. And their formulas are good: hydrating and easily glides on.

Also, Japanese brands (Kanebo, Shiseido et al) make good light coloured lippies too. This is especially true for Kanebo.

MAC and Bobbi Brown make not bad lipsticks. They are not as pricy as branded ones. Cost about RM 65 to RM70 plus. However, the packaging of these brands will not feel as luxurious as compared to the branded lipsticks. They use light plastic packaging whereas brands like Chanel only use metal for their lipstick tubes and Dior uses heavier plastic and metal. So if you want to impress your gf, branded ones would be better. Here are my reviews for MAC and Bobbi Brown.
MAC: a wide colour selection. And alot of different formulas (like glittery or glossy) However, the formula of the lipstick cannot compare to branded ones. I find my MAC lipsticks a bit drying but MAC has alot of bombastic colours I like. MAC lipstick packaging is not so luxurious, its light plastic so feels abit cheap. And the caps of my older MAC lipsticks are abit loose. MAC has alot of nudes and pinks however alot of the colours are not so flattering on everybody (some nudes can make you look like a corpse) so if you buy the wrong colour, would not be suitable for ur gf.

Bobbi Brown: the lipsticks have good colour selections that are flattering on almost everybody. Packaging much better than MAC. However formula not as good as branded lipsticks.

I hope this helps. I'm a lipstick addict and I own 50 plus lipsticks from MAC, Bobbi Brown, Dior, Chanel, Guerlain, Kanebo, Shiseido and more. I also love red lipsticks the most!
