well, if u calculate correctly, u only pay the phone for rm1.4k.
the additional rm600 is deductible on ur monthly bill, so u r paying in advance 1st.
yes, telco is like this, no matter how, u need to pay around rm 2k. except maxis one club member iinm where they can get at rm599 but at a plan of rm98 + rm48(data).

my thought, get 1 yr contract at most. 2 yrs is juz so suxs like me, wan to chg also cant unless pay penalty of rm500 iinm.

too bad they dun offer the previous IP4 package anymore. rm50 = data-1gb + talk time n sms.

In that case Digi is bad choice as their download speeds average 700-800 kbps only , at times you might hit 1000+ kbps
In contract Maxis and Celcom will easily give you 2 times to 8 times ( 2000kbps to 8000kbps) 
You buy cheap service you get cheap poor  service

@H3LLKEEPER if you can wait... wait for u mobile to unveil their plan. they can sometimes give really good value plans... but downside with u mobile -- limited coverage area and contract is 24months only.

You can get similar alternatives in garage sales ( one note user) I remember around rm30+
