yea.. woofer produce pure bass ....
spl = sound pressure level ... --> boom boom boom!!! . tongue.gif
woofers need amplifier to power it up larr....
no one use player to power up woofers.. doh.gif
woofers confirmed need amp to power it....
you can buy chapalang brands like Saga 2 channel 1000watt pmpo ...cheap cheap.. and power your cheap cheap woofer .. is more than enough...
unless you buy those expensive woofers... rated in RMS ...

dats space quite empty.....

Clarion is good stuff, but dunno bout OEM lah, maybe they custom made budget versions for Perodua. Anyway, I saw a leaflet from Brothers' , they already start selling the audio bracket for MyVi, that means, you can take away the awful HU, put in your new HU, put the bracket (actually a dashboard cover, if you know what i mean) and your car won't look like a dork anymore.

RM1k can get you very decent audio, if you don't change the HU. My conservative setup of 1x10" DVC ~300w RMS 2nd hand woofer, custom made deep enclosure (to compensate the fact it's a 10" woofer), a 2nd hand 4 channel Alpine 85wRMSx4 amp, workmanship, is already costing RM500+, not including the cable.(someone sponsored me their cable, else, add RM100) and you really need a nice component set to complement your bass, trust me. ADD RM250 for a no-namer 100wRMS (make sure it's true) . Add RM600 for a decent HU and your budget goes down the drain. So don't simply change the HU unless you really got more budget.

check out my myvi pics....i had used up rm700 for my set fully satisfied....(700 nt include amp)

1 thing i think seriously needed is a preamp because it really helps a lot to tune the high/mid/bass/mid bass which is very important...if nt no matter what setup u hav also sux ....my oppinion only la...haha...

a preamp can't really tune/effect much in the effect
an electronic will be better
but everything is limit by the passives

from what i know,

1- clarion is better than blaupunkt (i know this coz i've changed mine from gen2 stock HU to clarion) . even stock clarion is better than blaupunkt if u have good wiring and speakers.

2- just put 2-channel amp and 2X10" woofer is enough. but u must have good wiring system and crossover. let the HU to control stock speakers. later on if u wanna upgrade, u can put another 2-channel amp just for the speakers. it will boost the power of mid and treble. but make sure u don't just mix the component. or else the sound will be awfully terrible.

3- for lower budget, i suggest u to change the HU and get 6X9 three-way speakers at the back. no need to put subwoofer. add tweeter at the front. that's enough for budget lower than RM1k.

sorry if i'm wrong. my opinion is based on experience and info from others.

o yeah...

for those who wanna put the 6x9 speakers @ the back.. plz PM me.. i can change wif 'em.. meaning.. no need 2 make holes for the 6x9 cz mine aledi have the holes for the speakers..

hmm.. try 2 start wif good component speakers wif good mid bass.. eg. alpine type-R?...
then an amplifier(3/5 channels)...
after tat HU...
last and not least add a woofer... (1x10" o 1x12" in a 1.25-1.5 cu/f2 sealed box)
