Are there stickers with aluminium texture to it for the macbook pro 15?
If there is what is it called and how much does it cost?
*
look for Moshi Palmguard. i'm using it on two of my MBP already. very satisfied even though the price quite expensive

for alfred, you are using the free or the paid one? what's the difference if comparing to spotlight?
*
im using the free one. the paid one is the powerpack add-on. more actions and got itunes miniplayer, nothing really important to me

so far anything spotlight can do, alfred can do (feels faster to me). can customize to search for wikipedia, google image, etc. dictionary is better since u can read the whole description (spotlight can only read a few words then u need to launch the Dictionary app)

hmm guys, i've been considering to get a macbook air 13" if i can't find a suitable ultrabook..

i've never used Mac OS before. would it be hard for me to adopt? been a Windows user all along.

looking for a device tht's lightweight, long batt life and slim. I guess MBA fulfills my need?

some poisoning pls? biggrin.gif
*
if u're adventurous, can try hackintosh (a way to install OSX on other PCs) first to try OSX out. that's what i did before i switch tongue.gif

trying something new is always confusing at first. but i've seen a lot of people (even those not too good with computers) adopt macs easily.

the thing u have to be worried about is one u get a mac, u simply wont settle with the quality of other PCs anymore hahaha.

i doubt i can install it, my personal laptop is 6 years old liao.. :/

i think i can adopt easily, but worry on the file management systems, such as drag and drop will still be available on OSX? to be honest i hate iTunes very much.. grrr

also, on MBA i guess the games to play on it will be quite limited eh?
*
i think OSX use a lot more drag and drop than windows haha. itunes windows is slowwww. itunes on mac is actually okay, the new itunes 11 is pretty neat smile.gif

yeah games are *very* limited. generally, games run better in windows, even with a slightly lower spec computer.

it's not the speed of itunes tht i dislike. it's how it works. syncing with my devices aren't as free as i'd like it to be..

ya i understand the limitation of games too. but i'd like to use the MBA for business purposes in the future. haha so i guess it's ok for me la
*
ahh i see, i thought u dont like the speed. there's a lot of apps for you to transfer files to an idevice like USB drives, but still have to do through itunes la.

for small files, i use dropbox a lot smile.gif is there anything in particular u wish to be able to do?

erh... i don't quite get your point.. sry man. only point i get and agree is tht a good UB is expensive and costs more than MBA, which i had some intense discussion with the upper managements about UB strategy doh.gif
wat about to non-iDevice? e.g. pendrives? like share files among PCs? can it be done without much hassles?

i suppose i have to stick to iTunes for now since i not gonna change my ipon4 any time soon.. haha

well sir, ultimately i wan a laptop which
1. lightweight
2. boots fast
3. long batt life
4. slim

I'm a very strong advocate of ultrabook, but after some survey and looking at the prices, i really doh.gif doh.gif wat kind of plan is UB which is to rival MBA, but having higher price tags than MBA? lol doesn't make sense to me..

so hence i'm considering MBA now also. now, i don't wanna end up buying MBA just cos of the hype or brand, i wanna know wat i buy and i get wat i wan, u know? smile.gif

but of cos being able to play game is also an added bonus lor.. hehe tongue.gif
*
aha about external drives and thumbdrives. some sold are formatted in 'NTFS', which is a windows thing. OSX can read but not write to NTFS (meaning u can view & copy but cannot edit, paste n delete). but there's an easy way to overcome this...just install a free app called NTFS-3G to enable NTFS write support. that's it! smile.gif copy paste works as normal. ejecting is actually easier.

wireless file sharing even with windows is no problem as well.

i've been surveying ultrabooks myself (same like u..i want something thin and light, but cheaper than MBA). there are some models cheaper than MBA but the quality is too far worse. so now im hoping to get an MBA myself. pretty much the best choice in the market.

if u really wanna know what u get, i suggest u drop by any apple store and spend as much time as u want on the demo machines.

since I am new with this MBA 13" need to know something.
Since the battery is irreplaceable, how many charge cycle does it have before it become a long gone (powered off without charger)?

I have a question about MBA. They don't come with CD like MBP. So how to make recovery CD or MAC cd or installation CD?
*
actually even the MBP doesnt come with a recovery/installation dvd.

there's a recovery partition in macs. for minor problems, u can just boot into the recovery partition to fix ur OSX.

you can also create an external recovery using a flashdrive in case the interal recovery partition doesnt work (e.g. ur hard drive crashed)

Hi guys,

I'm looking for an alternative to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (PDF Editor) which is very expensive.

Is there any cheaper PDF Editor that you guys can recommend (from App Store)? There are many but which one would you recommend?

Thanks
*
what sort of editing are you trying to do? Preview is quite capable already compared to adobe reader

Won't 13 inch be to small for u guys?
*
for me, 13 isnt too bad if the resolution is high enough. a lot of 13-inchers are 1366x768 which is a bit too restrictive

QUOTE(alexcky @ Dec 11 2012, 09:24 PM)
mainly for work + surf web..so u mean the osx is faster than w7/8?

btw i notice MBA no port connect to projector..anyone can explain on this??
*
dont only look at specs. go out and actually touch n hold an MBA and compare to the acer. the difference is like audi vs perodua.

i cant say OSX or windows is faster. u're in an apple subforum so obviously all of us here prefers using OSX. that's a really subjective part.

there's no VGA port simply because the huge port itself wouldn't fit on the MBA. there's a Thunderbolt connector and u can buy a VGA-to-Thunderbolt connector. thunderbolt is pretty much the fastest kind of connection in the market (double the speed of usb3), can use for file transfer and also displays

thanks ya! Is 4GB enuf for lr & ps? how come epal's ram is so expensive?
lol... PES is the only game that i will spare time to play laugh.gif but it won't turn me down if incompatible.  thumbup.gif
*
4gb definitely enough smile.gif almost all manufacturers offer high prices to upgrade RAMs. no surprise there

not sure about PES performance though. games on OSX wont run as smooth as in windows. sometimes even windows pc with lower spec can run games faster.

QUOTE(arcule @ Jan 13 2013, 07:32 PM)
how to validate a MBP ? i mean what code need to have and where to validate

and also, if u buy a MBP, but got no receipt, so is it ok that u go in any mac shop they will repair for u?

and about the magic mouse, is it worth to buy a?
*
validate what? if you want to check your warranty, it's here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

jsut have to input your serial number, which u can get in System Profiler

u dont need any receipt. the shop will just lookup your serial number to check warranty status and that's it. simple right? smile.gif

mouse is very hard thing to recommend since it's too much of a personal choice. for me, the shape is too low, not comfortable. plus the sensor is far in front of the mouse (most mice the sensor is in the middle). but a lot of ppl actually like it, so just try out at a mac shop and decide for yourself smile.gif

haiz~~ until now still can't make up my mind to get the MBA 13 (i5, 8GB Ram, 256GB) or wait for the new Haswell rMBP..

my intention was to replace my current laptop (due to the weight, Sony F series, you know what i mean)

i am dilemma cause of the screen, i like high resolution screen, my current laptop also FHD.

then suddenly change to 13" with 1440 X 900, scare i can't live with it.
then i am using the current laptop to play some game like Dota 2, and L4D2. i worried Intel 5000 can't support as well.

2 months more, Apple might announce the Haswell rMBP, the weight might even more lighter. do you think i should wait until that time only buy?

Btw, i am comparing MBA 13" with rMBP 15" as rMBP 13 doesn't have a graphic card.

Thanks.. XD
*
i dont think haswell rMBP will be any lighter tongue.gif the design just came out last year..it'll stay that way for quite a long time. current cMBP design has been around since late 2008.

if gaming is important then better go for rMBP 15". at this point in time u might as well wait for haswell tongue.gif

hi, not sure this is the right place.
recently i just purchased rmbp 15" and there is a question regarding the charger.
i checked the review regarding the adapter that the magnet on 85W magsafe 2 power adapter is weak. is that true?
i tried to plug and unplug the adapter and it seems strong, so does it wear overtime? anyone having problem with it?
*
my 2008 MBP magsafe magnet is still strong tongue.gif
