Need some one to clear my doubts, following is my preferred criteria :

i5 / i7
4GB RAM (min)
External Graphic 1GB / 2 GB - minor gaming
HDD + SSD
15" (min)
Keyboard : prefer old keyboard type keys doesn't have space - eg: lenovo X series , alienwave (but no budget for this)

dislike : ACER

Brand experience :
Lenovo - Like the business series very much but have some doubts on consumer series
Dell - so far so good bought 2 for fam members
ASUS - thou Taiwan brand have faith in them cause desktop all using ASUS MOBO & GC

Sony , Toshiba , Fujitsu : no comment but Jap brand

Budget : 2k - 3.5k

1 more Q : does the new laptop that comes with Beats Audio , Altec or external sub woofer have better sound performance ? If it is significant hope to have this as well

Asus's double end fan for Gaming series sound interesting - it is very stable comapre to other brands at the same price ?

Closest (without HDD+SSD):
15.6"
Asus N56VZ-S4284H, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM3699[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 1TB, W8; color: black

If your main priority is gaming, do consider the 15.6" Lenovo Y580. Use the remaining money to either upgrade to SSD or extend warranty to 3 years

Those with JBL, harman/kardon, Beats, Bang & Olufsen, Dyaudio, Klipsch do have much better audio quality compared to other laptops. But a pair of external speakers would easily be better brows.gif

How does N56 compare to G55VW ?

cause the diff is a small little bit and BlueRay isn't require by me.... what's the diff comparing N vs G series besides the Graphic card diff ?

Looking at your recommendation, comparing those 2 model seems like Lenovo a better steal Ref Price :

Y580 FHD 5934-2479 i7-3610QM 8GB 1TB BLURAY NV GTX660M 2GB D5 FULL HD15.6" DVD W7H BLACK 2YR

N56VZ-S4079V I7-3610QM 4GB 1.0TB NV GT650M 2GB BLU-RAY DVD 15.6" W7HP 2YR(BLACK)

Being Y580 is cheaper, unless I overlook on some hidden item , eg: speaker ? ventilation ? Bag ?

I think Win 8 is auto upgrade these days.

GPU-wise: GTX660M > GT650M

G series is made specifically for gaming, so you can expect better cooling systems, thus heavier weight.
The G55 and the Y580 runs on the same GTX660M GPU though.
There are a fewl variants of Y580:
15.6"
Lenovo
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HBasic, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty; *W8 (white) version upcoming
Ideapad Y580, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM3599[JBL], 8GB, 1TB HDD(7200rpm), W7HP, backlit keyboard, 2 years international warranty
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM3999[JBL], 8GB, 32GB mSATA + 1TB HDD, W7HP, backlit keyboard, 2 years warranty

If you are looking to getting the most performance out of your budget, get the RM2999 version of the Y580, and use the remaining money to upgrade the HDD to SSD, and also extend warranty to 3 years

For lenovo how's the build quality in comparison of Ideapad vs Think Pad.

I am a Think Pad user quite like the build , but never try any of the Ideapad - heard both side of stories some say good some say not . Need more insight if going to settle for Ideapad

Y500 sound interesting - especially the back ventilation thing, the slot table graphic card doesn't amaze me thou. Any idea what price level it will settle in ?
