Hi, I'm interested to purchase a laptop and below are my requirements:

1. Preferred Brand: Dell or Lenovo (interested in Lenovo but unable to find direct retailer in MY though)
2. Budget: RM1200 - RM1800
3. Usage: Moderate usage - normal surfing - FB, youtube, ms.office usage, watch DVD/music, no gaming.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14"

Well, I have few questions and hoping to get answers from sifus here:

1. I've found this Inspiron 14With 3rd Gen Intel® Core™ i3 processor - 4GB 1 DIMM (4GB x1) DDR3 1600Mhz - 500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive - W7 home premium of RM1599. Is it applicable and able to perform good based on my requiremenst above? Is it good enough?

2. If I order the laptop online via Dell website, anyone can advise what do I have to check upon the laptop delivery?

3. Do I have to install the windows etc on my own or they actually help us installing everything prior delivery?

Seeking for your kind assistance as I have no idea about this at all.

TQ in advance smile.gif

1. Yeah the Inspiron 14 is more than enough for your usage nod.gif

2. Just try to use it like you normally would i.e. keyboard, screen, speakers, mic, optical drive, touchpad etc. If you found anything wrong, you can always have a 1-to-1 exchange with Dell nod.gif

3. If you opt for the one with W7HP (not Linux), everything will be installed for you nod.gif

Thanks for the prompt response!

So this Inspiron 14 is not considered as too "outdate" huh? Facing alot of issues with the Vaio CR-323 laptop - windows always "hang/not responding", the overall performance is just bad and I hope I'd get a great performing laptop this round!

Posted a question in the forum earlier but no response received, I notice that there's a small remark behind each price stated for Dell laptops from the website - "GOODS BY DELIVERY ONLY: Delivery charges of between RM20 & RM247 per unit (depending on product type and location) are also payable on all purchases unless otherwise specifically stated. Delivery time for purchased Dell Products are from 9am-6pm, Monday-Friday (excluding public holidays)".

Does it mean there will be additional delivery or other charges besides the price RM1599 quoted? Pls advise.

The INspiron 14 aforementioned is running on an Ivy Bridge processor. Although its not a high end processor, its not weak at all brows.gif
Don't worry, it will be able to handle all those regular tasks that a normal user will do on a laptop.
You can consider upgrading the HDD to something faster after a few years, especially when the laptop starts to slow down.

As for delivery charges, it is mostly applicable to locations that are pretty isolated. As long as you're staying in or near a city, delivery is free nod.gif

Sifu, thanks for the useful info!

1. I've just placed my order and it's under "fast delivery" category, just cuious if the quality would be not as good as the rest as it is an in-stock - next day delivery product.... but sadly the estimated delivery day still takes a week - i wonder why!

2. erm... do I check the laptop on the spot upon the dispatch guy delivers the laptop?! If yes, do I check the functionality as you explained above?

3. Is there any thread I can refer to how to check whether laptop delivered is the one I ordered?!

Paiseh to ask so many questions as I really don't know much about all these ... TQ!
