QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Nov 5 2012, 01:57 AM) buy the freedos 1 But my aim was to get it cheaper. which is Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2499, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), freeDOS, white Besides, i think i7 is already overkill for me. I just want to play games like Battlefield 3 (med settings is fine) I revise my criteria now. 1. 15.6" Screen 2. i5 cpu + 7670m (i think this combination is good enough for me) 3. no preinstalled OS preferred |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Nov 5 2012, 09:25 AM) Finally a wise forumer who doesn't just want to get an i7 just for the sake of getting one If you're into gaming and has limited buget, invest on the gpu more. Cpu only affects loading time. The price gap in i5 and i7 is not really worth it, max out the graphics instead. You are right, i7s are pretty overkill for most games (but it does help in BF3 albeit it depends on your graphic requirements) For your new criteria, this will fit nicely: 15.6" Lenovo Ideapad G580, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM1699, 2GB, 500GB, freeDOS, 1 yr warranty GT630M is more or less on par with 7670m It appears that lenovo has the units i need. I also saw there Z585 (A6-4400 cpu 7670m gpu) Which of them would play better? I hope they can handle the new nfs most wanted As long as they can run it at medium. |

QUOTE(PF T.J. @ Nov 5 2012, 04:36 PM) CPU will usually be used more in RTS games. Load time is on the other hand determined by the HDD/SSD what do you mean? Does it have driver issues? The Z585 would perform better theoretically, though I'm not sure whether the drivers work or not If none, i would get one. And if the a6 is not enough in the long run , can i upgrade it to a10? Sorry for consecutive questions. |

Y400 give you the options to buy another GT650M in ultrabay and swap with ODD, to run in Nvidia SLI. uhm, what is ODD? also, i haven't seen any shop selling graphics for laptops, can you tell what specific stores sell them? Thank you! |

QUOTE(nexus2238 @ Dec 26 2012, 11:43 PM) ODD - optical disc drive. I think i'll be better off with Y400. Thanks bro! No, the ultrabay GT650M is specifically by Lenovo for Y400 / 500, you can't use it for other models. No, the ultrabay GT650M for Y400 is not released yet. Try some time in 2013. Added on December 26, 2012, 11:48 pm Why don't you consider a smaller laptop (13/14") and a 23" screen (Dell Ultrasharp is only ~ RM600) or even better just use your HDTV. Get the portability and big big screen |
