guys, 15r se or 14r se?currently ordered the 14z, but i was quite worried for its unremovable batt and lack of usb port. plus with the 14z i3 price, i could get an i5 15r SE! one extra thing i can see with 14z is that it has ssd, and its thin. but 15/14r se both has backlit keyboard. im torn in between. enlighten me brotha!
*
You should know what you wanted to do with your laptop before buying man hmm.gif
Go for the 14z if you are always on the go and would prefer a slim and light laptop with long battery life.
The 14R SE and 15R SE, on the other hand, are totally different classes of laptops- performance laptops geared to offer you uber CPU and GPU power, at the expense of portability and slimness smile.gif

what your gf gonna do with it? i assume pretty much basic task is it, girl will love 14z imo, plus the performance diff between i3 and i5 maybe is not quite needed by your gf. btw i thought u said u already ordered it?
*
+1, since you've already ordered it, no point fretting over it nod.gif

Otherwise I would suggest the S400 instead, much nicer looking, especially for a girl brows.gif

Hi all, I need some laptop advice.

Laptop function - For photo editing - Lightroom 4, Photoshop
Budget - RM2k-3k
Weight - something light

Not sure if an Ultrabook will meet the above functions, but please do advise  smile.gif
*
As a user myself, having a standard notebook with a good screen, a fast CPU, a lot of RAM and a fast HDD will increase performance the most nod.gif
But most lightweight notebooks don't offer these unfortunately, so you'll have to compromise abit hmm.gif

Perhaps this one?
13"
Dell
Vostro V131, i5-2450M + Intel HD3000@RM1999[1.82kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), anti-glare, W7HB, colors: silver/red

Use the remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years, and upgrade the RAM to 8GB at least, and also upgrade to an SSD if possible nod.gif

Thanks for the recommendation! The specs looks great!

Btw, don't mind me if i ask, what's the difference between i5 and i7? Does it affect the speed of software usage much between i5 & i7) ?
*
There are 2 versions of processors:
-Normal processors
- ULV processors (weaker processors to reduce power consumption, hence longer battery lives)

The one I've recommended to you runs on a normal processor, which will be more effective at photo rendering and stuffs. The faster 7200rpm HDD will also be better for faster program and photo load times nod.gif

i5 are basically dual core processors; whereas i7 are generally quad core processors.
Quad core i7s are more powerful at calculations and multitasking, but generates more heat and consumes more power hmm.gif

No problem, good hunting man notworthy.gif

But do take note that despite being a normal processor, the one in the V131 is relatively older (Sandy Bridge), but still better than the newer Ivy Bridge ULV processors brows.gif

G51JX  can i know the price for this?

Lenovo
Ideapad Y580,  i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HBasic, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty, P950 headset

Ideapad G780, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M + (1600x900)@RM2699[3.0kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)\

and y480 as well.

anymore asus can recommend for gaming? budget is RM3500
*
If your budget is RM3.5k, then the G55 is out of your budget already laugh.gif
The G51Jx is an old model...

If portability is not a problem, then the Y580 would be the best pick.
Use your remaining budget to extend warranty, and upgrade the RAM and HDD nod.gif

Durability cannot be measured unfortuntely laugh.gif
it all depends on a little bit of luck and also on how well you take care of your laptop nod.gif

Based on the specification of the software mentioned, ultrabook nowadays are capable to fulfill your need.
Why not try the Samsung Series 5 Ultra 13" (RM2699) or 14" (RM2999)

I don't think huieye was looking for a notebook just "capable" of running Photoshop and Lightroom. Even a netbook can do that.

Please recommend properly and unbiasedly, you seemed more like a seller with your way of recommending all Samsung notebooks
