QUOTE(Justin8133 @ Oct 8 2012, 11:17 PM)
All sifu here, please help me. I'm looking for an ultrabook on business purpose and a little light gaming. Now my option is

1. HP envy spectre xt/ 14
2. Asus Zenbook ( but saw some bad review from net about the touchpad)
3. Dell XPS 13
Guys, please advise me. Thanks. Budget around RM3k +
*
I guess which one to choose depends on your definition of "light gaming". Your "light" might not be my interpretation of "light" laugh.gif

Personally I would prefer the XPS13 more because of the much better and comfortable keyboard, carbon-fibre built and also non-glossiness design (apart from the screen, of course tongue.gif) which are good features to have on a ultrabook used for business (and at the same time not too ugly) haha laugh.gif
But it runs on an Intel HD3000 iGPU, so don't expect too much gaming from the XPS 13...
You can consider the relatively cheaper HP Folio 13 as well, its sort of similar to the XPS13:
13"
Hp [Ultrabook] Pavilion dm3-1001TU (Folio 13), i5-2467M + Intel HD3000 + 128GB SSD@RM2999[1.49kg], W7HP

The ZenBook UX32vd would be better if you're looking into playing some relatively more "hardcore" games laugh.gif But that's about it... the touchpad is not as good as that of the XPS13 and personally I feel that it'll be a bit too flashy for a business notebook

Other ultrabooks capable of relatively better gaming performance:
14"
Acer [Ultrabook] M5-481TG-53316G12, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT640M LE (28nm Kepler) + 128GB SSD@RM2899[1.85kg], 6GB, W7HP
Asus [Ultrabook]S46CM-WX023V, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2399[2kg], 4GB, W7HP
Dell [Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i5-3317U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2599[1.87kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm) *no VGA port, OD
HP [Ultrabook] Envy4-1043TX/1053TX, i5-3317U + AMD HD7670M + [32GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)]@RM2599[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, W7HP
Samsung [Ultrabook] NP530U4C, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT620M + 24GB mSATA + 1TB HDD@RM2999[1.81kg], 6GB, ODD, W7HP
Toshiba [Ultrabook] Satellite U840-1008X, i5-3317U + AMD HD7550M + 32GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2999[1.7kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, color: silver, free RM200 petrol voucher

To all sifus,

No preferred brand

Budget RM1800 max

14 inch

For sister use, mainly multitasking like multiple tab of facebook chat+ listen music+ typing words+ web google... Is Intel® Core™ i3-2365M Processor - 1.4GHz, sufficient to handle these tasks?? No gaming
I was thinking about lenovo s400 with i3-2365. Any other options???

Weight is a non main factor but if lightweight is plus point biggrin.gif
*
Yeah the i3-2365M would be able to handle those just fine nod.gif
Some other alternatives:
14"
Dell
[Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1599[1.87kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), Ubuntu Linux 11.10, *no VGA port, OD
[Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000@RM1799[1.87kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB, *no VGA port, OD

These are running on IB ULV-processors, which are faster than the SB ones nod.gif

I would avoid recommending netbooks as those are really a bit too small for most people.
Can consider these:
Closest-

SIFU, A BIG THANKS TO YOU. You are quite aggressive at here.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
Well, I'm personally quite like the design of HP Envy Spectre XD instead of Dell XPS 13 because looks more elegant and classy. Unfortunately, Dell XPS 13 it's kinda HOT as seen all good review from forum. Meanwhile, Zenbook is quite expensive btw.

SIFU, how you comment about HP Envy Spectre?  hmm.gif
*
No problem man laugh.gif
well, the thing about ultrabooks is that almost all of them will run hot because of the slim design which reduces effective airflow... its unavoidable, hence manufacturers charge an unavoidable higher warranty price for ultrabooks.

As for the Envy, it will run hot as well, and its a fingerprint magnet despite its awesome looks LOL... My past experience with glossy laptops (Qosmio F60 and Satellite M500) has really turned me off against glossiness XD

here's a review on the unit (spec may differ): http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/hp...14-spectre.aspx

Brother i check out Jayacom laptop pricelist

HP Compaq, AMD P840 + AMD HD5470, 2GB Ram, 500GB, 14'' Display, Windows 7 Home Premium (RM 1000)

this laptop better ?? if compare with :-

Dell
Inspiron 14, B820 + Intel HD@RM999[2.1kg], 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), Ubuntu Linux 11.10; W7HB@RM1159 ???
*
I don't really like to reocmmend HP Compaq to people... they seem to have cut too much corners in this particular line of laptops hmm.gif
At least Dell's Inspiron 14 are broadly-speced; as in even the ones with higher spec will also use the same chassis. And also the warranty support is better nod.gif

Bang-for-buck is too general... the RM3.3k Sager NP6110 is the best bang for buck gaming laptop, but I think that's not what you are looking for hmm.gif

That is the thing, which is why I specifically say that its good to have when
i) you have the budget
ii) you are getting a >15.6" notebook (they have better cooling; and they are not really known for good battery life in the 1st place) laugh.gif

Added on October 6, 2012, 4:38 pm

is that means 14" not really suitable for i7, but i though14" i7 power consumption and heat dissipation still the way better than core 2 duo right ?
*

[/quote]

Quad core i7 generates a lot more heat than i5 and core 2 duo nod.gif
It all depends on whether you need the i7 or not (based on your requirements, you don't need it). If you insist on getting one, then getting a 15 incher would be better, especially so if you don't mind getting a 14 or 15" notebook icon_rolleyes.gif

1. what is OD??
2. Is the skullcandy speaker from dell better than ordinary laptop speaker (not those beats speaker for laptop), worth it to get?
3. I know dell special edition laptop comes with skullcandy speaker but how about The ultrabook inspiron 14z ?? Does normal inspiron 14 comes with skullcandy speaker too??

1. OD = Optical drive. The Inspiron 14z has it
2. Yeah it should be better than those standard ones, but not by a lot

Almost all processors in the market now are Ivy Bridge ones sweat.gif

As for the i5 processors, go for the normal ones (non-ULV); i5-3210M for your case.
Avoid ULV ones i.e. i5-3317U
