What about the HP Pavilion dv6 does it also fare well?

Added on October 6, 2012, 9:30 pm

Y580 is only RM3000 are you sure you're no talking about the Y480? Or has the price for the Y580 decreased?
*
The Pavilion DV6 is no longer as hot as it used to be now... the current ones are way too expensive for the spec it offers... not really worth it sad.gif

As for the Y580, yes, that's the price and specifications nod.gif Do I look like I'm new at recommending laptops? haha tongue.gif

Thank you guys for the recommendations smile.gif
Btw, bro PF T.J.
I would prefer standard voltage CPU because it has more processing power, and the laptop would be able to survive longer when newer and more powerful processors surface.
although it's for a girl, not all girls settle for looks only for a laptop, some would prefer it to be fast.
as time goes by, more software are installed and it will tend to slow down the whole system as well.
Thanks again for the recommendations!  notworthy.gif
*
Well, the thing is notebooks with standard voltage CPU mostly does not come with SSD or even mSATA SSD.. so they will be slow anyway (notebook speed is largely bottlenecked by the slow HDD spinning rate)
If you want, try to upgrade those recommended with an SSD later on for even faster performance brows.gif

Yeah, different laugh.gif
Simply put, in terms of speed: SSD > mSATA + HDD > HDD

thx for the input. yesterday i went survey at shop and found asus k46cm, i straight fell in love with it.

[Ultrabook]K46CM-WX090V, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M@RM2099[2kg], 2GB, 500GB, 4-cell battery, W7HP, OD
[Ultrabook]S46CM-WX023V, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2399[2kg], 4GB, W7HP

these 2 specs should cater what i need right?
*
More or less, but try not to expect too much from it especially for Photoshop laugh.gif
You could either go for (i), then slap in a SSD; or just go for (ii)...
The 1st option would be the better pick imho

Brand - Dell
Price - RM1.3k-RM1.6k
Usage - Daily (Work)
Screen - 14' or 15'

Prefer i3,w7.

Currently looking for,
Dell Vostro 2420 RM1569 & Inspiron 15 i3-3110 RM1459

Which 1 is better ? Or any other recommend ?

Thx smile.gif

Pretty much the ones you have mentioned and one more:

Dell
Inspiron 14, i3-3110M + Intel HD4000@RM1299[2.1kg], 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), Ubuntu Linux 11.10; W7HB@RM1459

It all depends on whether you need the portability + longer battery life or not. If not, then just go for the Inspiron 15 nod.gif

Unless if its a business notebook, its very hard to tell which one will last longer, in which's case the warranty support would be a more important point for consideration icon_rolleyes.gif
