So, long story short, somebody stole my sister's credit card and buy 2 ipads at a apple shop. So now we got the CCTV recording, but only can watch on the shop's PC, but when take it home, cannot run at all. Also included was a .bat file, with this inside CODE @\SelfPlayer\SelfPlayerInstall.exe \SelfPlayer\SelfPlayer.ini @start selfplayer.exe /file:"%CD%\cam08-20120930-190500.h264"
while the .h264 file cannot open, no matter with what player I use. Any advice?

Tried VLC, Windows Media Player, MP Classic, Real Player, Quick Time.
I'm thinking the shop missed out something when giving me the file.

Possible this file is proprietary format, customized for their video camera software suite. Check with the shop for the driver/software CDs which may contain their very own format conversion software... This post has been edited by lex: Oct 6 2012, 03:17 AM

Mini update:
It seems that the video can be uploaded to youtube, but it doesn't play properly, it looks like a slideshow. It's like video>blank>video>blank non stop.

When viewed at their shop, the video is normal, but I can't view it and when put to youtube, it becomes like this » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

most cctv dvr has their own unique codec/ format which may unplayable with the normal players we normally use
try find the videoplayer from ur cctv cd/dvd
or go access your cctv user interface by network, try looking for something like "Get software" or "Video Player/Viewer"
then download it, (it actually is from the DVR) and use the videoplayer load ur cctv backed up file, should be able to open it
the videoplayer usually looks like a portable/ small version of CCTV like video player.
some CCTV Videoplayer has many feature, like convert the channel into .AVI or .MP4, and thats the best for your need, make it become the normal video format we normally use, so it's playable directly on any PC
mind to tell us your CCTV brand name? and model, maybe we can help out
such as Avtech, VisionTec, Vivotek
