guys, sorry if somebody asked this before.

but just wanna know, is it good for a phone is you keep clearing the ram used through the task manager?

as far as I know, friends told me its good but only I came across a few ppl saying it isn't good.

Need some clarifications.

since you asked so politely...

Clearing RAM basically means shutting down EVERYTHING on your phone. Running apps in the background will also be closed.

Well, of course, naturally many apps will restart again thus eating up juice to boot up right? So, in that sense, it does cause a little bit of work for your device. Does it hurt or harm your device? Certainly not.

It's good probably only if your phone really does start to lag badly and you are for certain BECAUSE of too many background apps are causing your device to lag, clearing RAM might improve the situation a little bit.

However, the way Android manages things, it's rarely that that is the case of why your device lags. So many people just suggest not to do it because juice is precious. It's been a long time since I cleared RAM, if I find a rogue application running which I don't like it doing so, either I stop it individually/freeze/uninstall completely depending on how irritated I am about it.

I personally don't believe in task managers and RAM clearing.

I have never killed apps on purpose nor cleared RAM intentionally since I bought my phone.
Been running smooth since i got my phone.

I believe the way android manages tasks and RAM is excellent smile.gif

The way Android's Dalvik manages the RAM, it is like a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) probably it is the same thing... just a different naming for Android in my opinion. There is a garbage collection method to clear unused information. However if a badly written apps may cause memory leak problem which the JVM is not able to handle. So yeah the garbage collection does the job of managing the RAM.

I see. Thank you all for the explanation.

But if I only clear my running apps and not clear the ram.

Is it gonna eat up my juice too?

Closing apps don't eat juice

Apps constantly having to reboot from scratch eats juice
