I have been told by pirate software vendors that the crack code on the CDs are not a virus and will not infect a PC even though an anti-virus software (AV) will flag it as one. So is this a case of false positive by the AV or are the vendors spouting bullshit to get people to buy their stuff? |

running exploit on system (to crack pirate software) is illegal operation.
pirate vendor words can be trusted? do they even talk about laws? its all up to u. anti virus program always alert & block illegal operation i dont call it false positive as user is well aware of own action (illegal anyway) |

the cracking process itself is to bypass the installed security, be it license code or whatever.
most is in form of program(exe). they may not always contain virus, though some indeed implement nasty codes to necessarily achieve this. some even interfere with registry. unrecognized/untrusted exe file are always flag as dangerous by AV, though technically there is nothing wrong with the crack (no virus) |

QUOTE(Krakenburg @ Oct 4 2012, 02:40 PM) I have been told by pirate software vendors that the crack code on the CDs are not a virus and will not infect a PC even though an anti-virus software (AV) will flag it as one. Why ppl with internet access would buy it ? So is this a case of false positive by the AV or are the vendors spouting bullshit to get people to buy their stuff? |
