yesterday signed up for 4mb from 1mb streamyx, they said technician will come to my house next week..
today i discovered that my internet speed has increased a little..probably 1.5mbps speed..i wonder if it is normal? need to wait for the technician to come to 'activate' the 4mbps speed? hmm.gif

These days, even if your line is capped at certain speed, your actual usable speed will be according to your account. It happened to me recently.

My line was capped at 5120kbps because I applied for 4Mbps Streamyx a few months back. But somehow the application got cancelled (technician didn't come to activate for whatever reason). I was having 4Mbps speed while still paying for old 512Kbps package (but had already been running at 1.5Mbps speed previously).

Until a few weeks ago, my internet speed suddenly went very slow (line was still 5120kbps). Speed test showing that my speed was only equivalent to 4xxKBps and download max speed only around 50~60KB/s.

Then I re-applied for 4MB account, get it activated for real... and speed is back as normal now.

Streamyx throttle .flv file

try changing to 480p or 720p which is in .mp4 file. You can see the speed different  biggrin.gif
It been going on for a long time already

hi, download mp4 file oh still some oo. sometime the speed cant even drop below 5kbps
*
shyte.... lolol

no wonder i felt 720p is faster than 480p. i felt strange when 360p loads without problem, but 480p was like super slow, and 720p was just as fast.

and i noticed with the IDM button on some flash vids including youtube, some don't have 480p mp4, only flv.

Do ADSL modem need support IPv6 to enable it on Win7 pc?
*
Yes, the modem or router must have IPv6 support.
I'm using TM supplied D-link modem+router combo. Supports IPv6 out of the box.

since the past few days i feel my video streaming especially youtube is really slow.

UPDATE #1:

1. My internet is just fine. The only problem is seems to be Youtube streaming getting slower than before. Not sure about other streaming sites like Dailymotion etc. Other activities like browsing and downloading does not seem to have any problems. IDM always give good speed on good servers.

2. This happens only on my PC. Youtube streaming is good on my BB Z10 even at 720p. On my PC, even 360p still buffer like crap at times.

UPDATE #2:

1. Found out that this only happens if I use Chrome or Firefox. Youtube streaming loads fine with Internet Explorer.

Any idea?

and I thought its just me... my youtube is like...stream around 30% of the video then it stops..no activity, while other web video streaming works fine doh.gif

nvm, i already the found the culprit for my problem

it's the Chrome's built-in flash player.
disabled that one, and use Adobe flash player instead.

now streaming is reasonably ok. if streaming is a bit slow, just reload so that it will try a different connection. works everytime for me.

your problem happens to me on my Blackberry Z10 though (using the BB10 browser in desktop mode). Although not all the time, but quite regular. I need to reload the video and it will resume playback.

Guys

do you all have connection problem now?

East Malaysia Sarawak area

Problems:
- difficult to connect, always fail
- connected but intermittent connection, speed stuck around 32kbps like not going to run slower than 56k
- open oversea website extremely slow ,or cant even open
- local web like lowyat.net still fast but slightly slow, also random lag
- will disconnect sometime, and back to point 1 problem hard to connect.
- problem started around 10pm just now
- my modem stats looks normal, no problem or unstable

I'm in Miri... and at the moment my connection is freaaaaaaking slowwwwwww

When I try reconnect it takes a bit time to connect.
All IP range tried (60.49.xxx.xxx / 60.54.xxx.xxx / 175.xxx.xxx.xxx / 219.xxx.xxx.xxx) same result.

All sites are slow loading. Facebook could barely open.

I was taking a nap in my room since 8 (too tired liao) and my sis from upstairs buzzed me asking if there's anything wrong on the internet. lol.

Just want to share, if your Youtube streaming is slow, try to disable ipv6, that should do it most of the time.
