1 question

i check unifi at Tm wedsite say no coverage.
does the unifi reseller also use TM wedsite to check ?
already 1 year still same, no coverage... whole taman already have..

beh than streamyx low upload speed... keep delay and lag ..
*
Sometimes it's best to try their email support. I not sure why but tmpoint staff will always say no to most package except 1mb or 512k package. I've been living in around banting for quite sometime. When i first transfer my streamyx to banting from subang , asked tmpoint they say don't have 4mbps in my area. After living for a year in banting, one day i came across a thread mentioning trying for the email support. I emailed and within 24hrs , it returned port eligble for 4mbps. Called tm careline, their register team told me yes too. Did some long verification with them and was told they will upgrade my line to 4mbps within a week. They literally read through most of the terms and condition on the phone -.-"..

Btw they mention on giving free wireless dect phone. But must take first mth bill and bring to tmpoint to claim.
Can i go to tmpoint to print the bill and claim there also 0.0? I previously told tmpoint to cancel my bill and they have not been sending any bills to my house.

Hi all,  just want to ask a few question. pardon me if this question already been asnwered from the previous thread.

is my line capable of 4mbps package? i apply for 4mbps package but they give a 1mbps package. when i call, they said my area is NOT 4mbps-supported (based on their system). btw, seem like my area does not have a fibre optic cable as nobody seems to dig around burying a cable. please see the attach file.

thanks!

As i mention before. Go to the tm website. Use the email support. It'll take within a day or two for them to reply u.
I chose 4mbps because my area also no unifi.

yeap.
Though i use this to email them. It'll generate a standard format instead of us arranging the format ourself.Remember to select category as broadband. Most important to fill in is the telephone number tied to ur broadband.

only extra cabling wiring services requires fee from those technician i think.
The rest will not be charged. If got charge also on the bill instead of to the technician themselves.

what do you mean by 'port at their side'?

i call my installer the other day and he said, he cannot find the 4mbps port at the DSLAM where my line in connected to. but he did test my line at said my house is capable of handling the 4mbps package.
*
Port at their side i assume is referring to the DSLAM. Usually i think most users will provide their location/address to tmpoint customer service/helpline. Their system when entered with the provided information will usually return nothing. Maybe providing them with the service number*the tel no tied to ur streamyx* might yield a different result.
Just my guess.

Ur installer mention that it's capable of handling 4mbps means ur line is eligible for 4mbps. It's just that requires tm side to activate it only.
Their RM140 plan quite attractive. one wireless modem and one wireless dect phone free.Though i'll still put the useless modem aside lol. And unlike unifi , if landed property during thunderstorm =.="...... no streamyx for you. Unless you want the thunder to come in through your telephone line and fry off everything.

some updates.

After the last email i sent to TM, someone call me(yesterday-12/11/12) and confirm that my area did support the 4mbps packages. when i ask, why i call TM 100 they said my area does not have the required port, she reply me back, "their system is not up to date". i feel like laughing when she said that. lol.

now, need to wait 3-working days for the 4mbps to come. thats what she told me.
*
Actually those tm helpline u call, they search by address not phone line number. So it's best to give them the number. Number will enable them to trace directly to their dslam database whether it's eligible or not. It's like tracing address on googlemap. Because malaysia's one street address got many type of name. When u try to search using name, sometimes it'll return nothing. But using coords, u can get the exact location.
Ur one is 3 days . I was told 7 days. They just upgrade my line to 4meg without calling me. Was streaming pps today , suddenly line disconnect. For 20mins line status down. Suddenly check back connected speed becomes 4092/512 from 1596/256. But speedtest to KL.. download 0.99 and upload 0.33 .... I assume they change the port capacity on the dslam to be 4meg. But bandwidth wasnt adjusted from tm's server.

guys..wan ask..if use vpn for streamyx normal dl(not torrent) still get high speed ah?will i get almost the same speed as the package?btw baca sig ak no 2 plz.
*
A short weird story on VPN.
VPN is a solution to tunnel your activity from your isp's traffic monitoring eyes. Like example u sent ur mail through tmnut post office. Before forwarding your mail, tmnut will try open up n peep what is inside. If it contains recipient to their wanted grp p2p. They will held up ur mail. Delaying it n slowing it or eventually they bring home the content for themselves. With VPN , u wrote ur mail in et language n it doesn't exist in any of our current language system. U send ur mail out to tmnut. Tmnut tries to open up n busybody only to scratch their head. They have no choice but to slam the mail directly out dissapointed. Ur mail gets forwarded to a recipient who understand ur et language. He helps u to properly decode everything before sending out to the true content to the true receiver.

It seems that the installer dude came to setup everything. He even login his tm account directly on my pc and update the details infront of me. But when he did a speedtest, he was surprised that the speed maintained at 1mbps instead of above 3mbps.
Was told to call him again to arrange another appointment on inspecting my connection.
=.= now i understand why they rarely introduce the 4mbps package. Seems like it isnt that easy to get everything hook up nicely lol.

Oh I don't know about it actually. Just my friend asking me to ping to yahoo.
Anyway, I found out that my area is actually covered with 4Mbps as I met the telekom guys around there but people at TMPoint were just bullshitting me saying no 4Mbps yet.  doh.gif
*
Why bother asking tmpoint pple when u have the option to email them through tm website. Use their email support which has auto generated forms to file a query to them. It'll take 1day*but make sure not during friday because they do not work on weekends*

Usually when they check, they'll ask for your homeline number. Not your address. Those asking for address will always return a not available status.

Btw, it's not advisable to haunt their techline everyday due to some lagging. It might be an international routing issue.Give it a day or two and it'll go away. Unless you can't login to streamyx totally.
I used to did that before and i've experience the worst case whereby they directly switched my 1.5meg *1meg package* to a genuine 1meg line lol.

Usually when u first got your streamyx package installed, they'll give u abit more juice to your line. 1meg package will have a connected speed at 2meg. Of course connected and true speed is different thing. Yet i could hit 150-170kbps downloading consistently.

Actually I never call them to complaint about the lagging or anything as I don't know what to say to them. I don't want to sound noob and pretend that I know everything when I know nothing about networking.
Is router play a part in having good connection as my aunty have the DSL-2640t.

Just sharing my speedtest result.  thumbup.gif

The advise is applying to majority in here who mention calling the techline for small issues. It wont solve the problem anyway but make the situation worst in many times.

user posted image
For this situation u'll need to call tmnet to check what's going on. Speedtest locally should hit above 1meg*if you are on 1meg package*. Anything belows indicates something is wrong.

ok. I will call them regarding about this. So, speedtest is reliable if I want to make a complaint?
I currently waiting for them to come to change to 4Mbps if they ever come. They did try to come before but my aunty is outstation so have to set a new date.
*
It will take sometime for them to eventually upgrade it to 4mbps.

They will come for sure. For my case, they call during morning 10am.

hm.. one simple troubleshooting step u can try.
Is the adsl line splitted ? Means are u using the same line for phone and also internet line.
If yes, check the adsl line is it splitted via a dsl filter or normal filter.*Google up for difference between the look dsl filter and normal ones.*
If dsl filter, pick up the phone and check is the phone tone clean or there's some other noisy sound besides the phone tone.
If there's some noisy sound other than the phone tone, something might be wrong with the line itself.

If none u can try check the modrout itself. Though there's rare chances that it could be causing the problem. The model u provided seems to point to dlink. And seems to me dlink modrout had problem of overheating in the past on their older types. U could borrow another one from someone else to test out.*Remember to erase the password and login id after using*

If nothing helps, i suggest waiting for the technician to come to install 4mbps. No point calling tm careline for help since u already applied for an upgrade. They will give u a new modrout + dect phone for free too. Though dect phone need to go to tmpoint to collect lol...

i am using 4Mbps package for almost 2 months

i found that after i reach 100GB download, my torrent slow down alot, almost cannot move sad.gif is that being throttle after over certain quota?
*
Actually .. it's been circling around the community that china have been imposing more restriction on their great firewall of china. This firewall is rather advance and adaptive to whatever vpn services that intend to breach it too. So now not only TMnut tries to throttle, China slowly shutting down access to their "paradise resource" too. It's two way.

It won't surprise me that one day torrents from china wont work at all.

I've been looking closely my downloading activity for the past 1 mth. Recently downloads from China were rather slow and IDM totally blows. It would jerk badly and stucked at 30kb/sec and sometimes totally jammed at 0kb/sec.

After switching on VPN, connection could shoot up to 400kb/sec. After sometime later, it would hover around 200kb/sec. Mind u, it's downloading from Xunlei VIP offline site.

Same here. Shiok sendiri for 6mths.
i got more than 500kb/s on my package at 4mbps.

After 6mths suddenly connected to 60 ip range cannot surf internet.
Connected to 175 ip range can surf internet.

Lodge complaint. Next day my connection become genuine 4mbps.
Now locked to 175 ip range but connected at 4096kbps.
Ask CS on the phone, repeat the same shyt like talking to robot.
"Sir i know but your package is 4mbps" rinse and repeat the same thing.

They got new package on 8mbps. Trying to push more customers on that package and purposely create some service fault with users. Then when user call TM , they will intentionally tweak it down to genuine speed.

It is possible to fix this but you need the technician to visit you wink.gif

Try complaint telling them you having frequent disconnect and the technician would come to you. Treat the technician nicely and who knows he willing to help you laugh.gif

Probably someone changed your port to a 4096 at the DSLAM.

It depends, ADSL sync speed can be changed via DSLAM if your location is still using old cabinet.
*
I remember in those days that the technician would leave their name card or contact. But i lost those contacts.
If any of you have this lobang to contact the technician directly instead of tm cs is more better.
cs can only follow procedures and the rest they will just reply the same shyt.
Calling them wont help but like my case it made it more worse.

No need MCMC if you just want refund, just ask them for it and they will process it for you but in your case mostly need to terminate because service unavailable at your place.
*
Terminate means need to eat penalty fee because i have not subscribed for over 1 year for this 4meg line.

There is service availability actually. Infact some of the users reside in my neighbourhood is using streamyx.
But not too many.
Port not available as i say is just too far fetch because there are streamyx subscriber in my vicinity.
Port full is plain silly because less than 10 subscribers in my neighbourhood.

My area is consider quite new but there are already subscribers.
The last time they check their system and they show it to me.
Lorong 41 and 44 was shown to be covered. Lorong 46 wasnt and their map doesnt even have lorong 46 on it.
But lorong 44 and 46 is sharing the same utility pole for telephone lines.
How could they assume that it's not covered?

It's very clear that they did not update their system. Instead of channelling this up to the management team, they chuck it aside. Because it's a problemsome issue ,they dont want to get tied down*year end is near*. They took the most ugly way to settle this issue. Which is to cancel application with a lame excuse.

If subscriber not tied down to any contract base of course noone care about it. But now for my case i had these termination penalty chained to me.I'll haunt them till they get something done because the bill is continue ongoing.

Excuses wont work here because i'm tied to something. They dont solve it i'll have to hunt them down whether i like it or not. If not i'll have to pay those bills myself every month or eat the termination fee myself.

Their ways of handling things really immature. Only want to do simple stuff and troublesome ones they directly use lame excuses to reject. Dont even bother calling back. It's like i'm begging them to install streamyx at my home as a customer. It's worse than applying for loans and credit card lol.

Still belongs to service unavailable, your contract can be cancelled, it's stated in your registration form. It's very rare for TM to provide extra pole just for one person unless you're willing paid for it. There's no reason for them to lie, they want profit not loss. If you're still persistent about this, write a letter to Prime Minister Office. I've seen plenty letter written to PMO got approved by TM. This however, will take 1-2months to process.
*
Thanks for that extra piece of information. Although i doubt it might work. The PM has no deal with the likes of me.
Why would he entertain my letter out of so many he got.
And one thing to confirm, there's no need to erect a telephone pole behind my house. Because there's already one.

Could take a look at this picture since picture is more than a thousand words.
The current situation.

Dear Sifus,

Just want to get some advice before going to apply for streamyx 4mbps as my area does not support 8mbps or unifi 5mbps : (

theoretically 4mbps is sufficient to watch streaming 720p streaming videos right?

or 4mbps only able to watch 360p? Tried my friend's unifi 5mbps and 720p is quite smooth...
*
Theoretically it should be smooth. I'm currently using 4mbps plan to watch youtube without issue.
It's more depending on which region sites u are surfing. Especially China site, you need vpn to bypass their "Great Wall of China restriction".
